Quick question about front plates

When my MCS4 is delivered, will it have a bracket installed on the front for plates? Or will I be responsible for installing my own? I really dislike the CO law requiring the use of a front plate!

Thanks!

Really depends on the accepting dealer.
You should call ahead and ask to have them NOT drill for the front plate.

So don't follow it; several of us don't run a front plate knowing the potential risks...

I'll make the call and ask.
I've been buildings Jeeps for a while now, and can never seem to keep the front plate attached! I got pretty tired of the $75 no front plate ticket!
I'm liking the hidden front plate from Altec!

living in a front plate requiring state sucks! I feel your pain. (Tx)

getting personal plates..something you like...helps, spending $ on that feels alot better than spending on fines.

...since the MINI is so small...I even trimmed my front plate smaller top and bottom...better.

From CA and I decided when I bought my '07 S convertible that I did not like the look of a front plate and decided to say "to heck with the law!". I've been going 4.5 yrs now and nothing has happened! My rational was if pulled over they would look at my back plate and not bother with the front... I don't believe they would pull me over just because my front plate is missing....I'm optimistic. If I do get dinged for it, I think it's a "fix-it" ticket so I'll show up with velcro'd set up and take it right off when I leave. This is my plan...so far, so good.

It depends on where you are. Around here, leaving a vehicle parked in San Francisco or Berkeley without a front plate is begging to be ticketed. I didn't want my bumper drilled though, so I got the Craven Speed mounting bracket that uses the tow hook to mount the front plate.

I hit a huge ice chuck a couple years ago that cracked my front aero bumper, the original had the license plate mounted. When the body shop replaced it, I told them not to drill the holes, and did the Craven Platypus mount too. It is out of the way and can be pulled off if needed, but gives a clean look and passes the law here in CO. I have gone with out the plate too, and so far have only gotten a warning, not on BLU-BY-U but one other car.
P.S.
If you want me to add a picture I can so you can see.

I never had any issues with no front plate until one day in the city when I got two the same day.

Just so you know, there are plenty of folks who have asked to not have the plate installed, the dealer said yes, but it was installed anyway. Best thing is to go to the car before prep and not only take the plate bracket out of the car, but tape a sign to the dashboard too.

If it is required, the dealer probably has to "legally" install it for you since in some states they act as agents of DMV issuing an inspection sticker for all new cars. They can ignore it if they want, but that doesn't mean the message will get to the guy who just does preps on cars all day. He is not near the showroom and the message can get lost.

Take the thing out and leave a note or make your salesman do that just to be sure.

I've got to say, I'm not crazy about how it looks having the plate on the bracket in the tow location! If the dealership puts a fairly nice molded bracket in the center I could live with it. I went through an auto broker for the purchase, so I will have to figure out who he uses to order. I would guess Ralph Schomp. Thanks for the feedback everyone!!!

Just remember, that with it mount in the tow location, you can always take it off, and have it in the boot, so if you do get pulled over, you can say "Oh I was putting it on today", and possibly get a warning instead of a ticket, if it is not there.
