Sept 25th Run to Pikes Peak
The Two Ranger Ricks
We (the tailgunners) wanted to hone our dust cloud navigating skills, so was basked in the high altitude grit. It was thicker than smoke. Now we're experts.
Right after departing the 2nd (paved) parking lot, Chuck smartly drove right past Ranger Rick #2 signaling a stop. I stopped and received the scolding for everybody. To make Ranger Rick feel better, I left him with few yes sirs, no sirs, I'll tell them to slow down sirs. Then I mumbled into the radio for good measure. Ranger Rick #2 was clearly exagerating and suffering from a lack of oxygen (a Rocky Mountain high?). I wish I had gotten that on video. I did, however, manage to get video/audio of the two Rangers Rick at the brake sniffing station on the way down. Only Cordial Ranger Rick spoke politely: "Your brakes are 230 degrees, keep using your low gear, " while Lack of Oxygen Ranger Rick just glared at me. Too bad he was out of the video frame. He really needs to get down to sea level once in a while, or drive a MINI.

I have always thougth that transmissions are more expensive to repair/replace than brake pads/fluids. So, I, too, was measured at around 230 degrees, while others (e.g., Bryan) measured in low hundreds.
As for the scolding, these are 'small" men with illusions of power, and they enjoy exercising it when they can. In my view, if you've got it, you dont flount it.
Anyway, thanks for the update.

My brakes were 165 but only because I was lagging the straights and cutting the corners due to the sloooooow Pathfinder in front of me.
Thanks for the photos Bahman - now please send me some words so I can put the run in the newsletter.
