Clear Bra
Clear Bra
I'm in the Ft. Collins/Windsor area and interested for getting a clear bra for my MINI when she arrives. Can anyone give me the name of a good place in my area and give me any idea of how much they are? It would be on a MC Hardtop (non S).
Ralph Schomp charges $699 though
Here's a list of dealers/installer that I found useful: http://www.clearbrafilms.com/colorado/#denver
I received my new Mini a couple months ago and I had it tinted and a clear bra applied at IDS (http://www.idswindowtint.com/). It's just down the road from Schomp. They did a terrific job on the clear bra. Wherever you have the clear bra applied, I recommend doing it the day you receive the car.
Since I have a somewhat unusual application, I'll detail it here:
I had 3M clear bra applied on the front bumper and across the entire bonnet. I have bonnet stripes, and they applied the clear bra over the bonnet in 3 sections: from the edge of the bonnet to the left edge of the left stripe, from the right edge of the left stripe to the left edge of the right stripe, and from the right edge of the right stripe to the edge of the bonnet (yes, that's difficult to explain... essentially the entire bonnet without going either over or under the stripes). It is invisible, and the bonnet stripes are still removable. The stripes themselves will act as paint protection for the areas they cover. I've only had it a couple months, but I quite like this application as there are no lines to obsess over (that may be more of a personal problem =P). It ran me about $750, but it covers everything.
I apologize if this doesn't help =). I couldn't tell from your post whether you had stripes or not. If you do, it's just another application option to consider. IDS themselves aren't very close to your desired location.

I second that IDS does a great job on the car, and the reason I can say that is Schomp MINI often times outsources their clear mask jobs to IDS. If you go through Schomp, they use IDS and will charge you the $699, and it will be one when you pick up the car. If you have Bonnet Stripes on your MINI, they will generally go ahead and mask over the stripes to prevent any damage, but cut on both side of the stripes so if you ever want to remove/ replace, you can without compromising the entire mask. Highly reccommend a clear mask no matter what though.
I'll toss another in the ring -

He did our Pilot and he comes to your garage. Excellent job and he does lots of MINIs. In fact I'm going to invite him to come up for this year's MITM.
