Schomp Advisor Recommendation?

Hi,

Someone just posted on the Rocky Mtn BMW club forum that they would like a recommendation for a sales advisor at Schomp MINI. He said that he worked briefly with a sales advisor there already but "wasn't impressed" as he put it. Of course, I don't have a name of the person he worked with already but he did say it was a man.

Can anyone give me a name or two for this guy to ask for?

Thanks!

Heather

Well I worked with Neil and would not recommend I also worked with the manager named Phil after Neil dropped the ball he was about the same. A few days after I called and talked to another sales man (don't remember his name) who also to this day never called me back. It seemed like because I wanted a car they didn't have they didn't want to help me. I have to go back to NY in a few weeks so I called a dealer in NY placed my order and will be driving back to co with my new car when it arrives. I just hope service is a bit better than the sales was at Schomp. Sorry I can't tell you a name of a good salesman but just a heads up on the two I did/had to work with

Thanks for the info and names to avoid. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I usually hear such rave reviews about Schomp MINI!

Anyone have some good names out there?

Mike Dankurt (sp? I really can't remember his last name) is good.
I will ask Shelly to get in touch with you (or you can if you come to the meeting tonight).

OK the Wife remembers the third guy was Lance. I don't know maybe it's just me being picky but the ones I mentioned are not people I would deal with. This is the bad thing about having 1 dealer in the whole state! I even went as far as calling down to NM to check for cars. I'm sure others have better luck than I have just wanted people to know my experience with them. It also may have had to do with my trade when they found out it was worth almost the same as the clubman things went sour. So that and not wanting to take a blue clubman seemed to make them not want to work with me.

BTW, I'm the person who posted on the RM BMWCCA website. I had talked a few times to Neil (unimpressive) but got lots of referrals to Vince Quick. Vince isn't the highest of energy guys, but he knows what he is talkign about and we ordered through him.

Didn't have a good Vince experience

We did NOT have a good experience with Vince. He didn't know what he was talking about. Really didn't listen to us so he could even answer our questions. Several times he did give us answers to questions we didn't ask! It was comical. My wife and I just looked at each other. The manager Ray switched us to another advisor after we complained. It appears that service advisor and even Ray the manager no longer with them and its only been about a year since we picked ours up. I think service is just bound to be lacks when there is only one dealer and they have a hot product. I usually buy my cars used with low mileage from private parties. With the resale value of Minis I did not see where it made sense to buy a used one. The new car buying 'experience' has just solidified me disposition to buy cars used! Good luck, just watch out for yourself. No one has your back at the dealership.

Vince isn't a "service" advisor, he's a "motoring" advisor (aka salesmen). Vince sold me my car and he was great. Im sorry you had a bad experience but he was great for me!

Personally I have had nothing but a positive experience at Schomp. The MINI is the second car we bought from them and I would buy a third. The MINI at Schomp service has been better than perfect and the Honda service nearly as good.
Sorry to hear of your exceptions to the rule.

Sadly, I hear lots of great things about the Service department at Schomp, but nothing too exciting about sales. It's even worse when you read about the phenomenal sales experiences some buyers have at dealerships in other parts of the Country. Is it a coincidence that Schomp has no competition within hundreds of miles, and the great experiences seem to come from places where buyers have a choice?

I care little for the whole sales end of the car experience. What really matters to me is what I will be dealing with the most - service. Purchase is a one-time, brief occurrence while service is forever. That is my priority.
Having said that, I did not have any issues with the purchase side of the equation at Schomp. Mike did a good, professional job and gave me all the information I requested.
Again, sorry that it left a bad taste in your mouth. At least now you can join our MINI5280 club and enjoy your MINI with the rest of us.

I bought my Mini from Vince Quick and so have several of my friends. I have known Vince for 25 years. He is a car guy, not a fly by night here today gone selling Dodges tomorrow. He knows his product and takes all the time needed to answer your questions. He was always avaliable during the ordering and delivery process and always responded to phone calls promptly. Someone posted here that Vince isn't very high energy. If you want a lack of product knowledge and high enerty, go across the street to that Dodge dealership. I deal with Vince any day. Also, service has bee great.

OK, time to chime in here. I ordered my 07 MINI from Mike D., he was easy to work with, got the order right and has been a pleasure to work with this past year. Always says hello and asks about the MINI when I drop in to chat or for service.

Ordered with Mike and delivered by Vince which was a great experience. Vince is a wealth of knowledge, you might have to pull a little knowledge out of him, but if he senses your a true MINI lover, he gives his all.

I believe Vince has been selling and pushing MINIs since 02, when they first came out.

Of course being of the older generation, I prefer working with a seasoned salesperson, but not an old car dog. Vince is seasoned but does not push like an old car dog.

Mike has been selling for a few years at Schomp, he shares the manager job with another sales manager, at least the last time I was in to the dealership.

My two service trips this year have been good. They did what I asked both times without any fuss. I cannot ask for more.

I wish we had a service department on the north side of Denver, but we don't and I can make the drive down to Schomp.

I figure in the middle of 09, I will order my wife a Cabrio from Schomp. Unless we wait for something special in 2010.

On an aside, some of the very young and newer MAs can try my patience a little bit.

Btw, I sold cars for a while in one of my retirement jobs, so I know what an 'old car dog' is!

I as well was unimpressed by their sales staff, seemed almost as if they felt they were doing me a favor by letting me buy their car, which was very disappointing when hearing about all the awesome sales stories from other parts of the country. However it's good to hear so many great things about their service dept.

I dealt with Tyler Huckabee at Schomp. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the product and has been nothing less than 100% willing to answer questions after the sale, etc. I think he may only be around 20 years old or so, but a very professional man for his age, nevertheless. I would give him a call

I'll second a recommendation for Tyler. He's a great guy and quite professional. He could tell that I was in love with the Clubman and let it sell itself. I pressed him on options, under the hood and the ordering process and he was well versed in all areas. When we went through the configurator he offered good reasons why or why not I should choose an option. No pressure sales.

There is also a new guy, I think his name was Luke. Been with MINI since February. A good guy too. I placed my order with him as Tyler was out for the day.

I also met one of the managers. Man, I'm really bad with names so I am drawing a total blank. He took me around the whole lot and even over to the Honda side to see if there was a Hot Chocolate on the lot to look at.

I got the impression on my visits to Schomp that they get a lot of lookie-loos. More than your average dealership. Might be a factor when dealing with first timers on the lot.

Just my two bits on Schomp Advisors :)

TYLER HUCKABEE !!!!!! That is the target name on who you want to have as a salesman and as a friend as well. When we bought our first Mini (MrsBean's) we dealt with Tyler, and everytime we stopped by for service Tyler would always remember us with names and a smile always, and when something needed to be done, he is always there to get it done for you in the most professional manner possible. When I was serious on buying a Mini Cooper for myself I didn't even hesitate to go to Tyler for help in finding the right Mini. Tyler not only helped me find my perfect Mini, he will not only give you personalized service, he is 100000000000000000000000000000% (is there such a number, for Tyler there is) sure that you are happy with everything and if you are a bit unsure on something Tyler is there to perfect it ! Basically Tyler is kind of like Bill Gates for Microsoft, a Jack Of All Trades in the Mini World !!!!! Thanks Tyler, and glad today to have Tyler as a friend that I didn't know I had.

Well It sounds like Tyler is the man for sales! Now if he is like Bill Gates I think I would stay away from him just the same If I buy my next Mini in CO I will have to give Tyler a try.

Good then POOR Service

Good and then Poor Service at Schomp I guess is typical.

I went by Douglas County Motor Vehicles and they said they had to send back the paperwork back to schomp, of which I thought couldn't take long, but it's been more than a week and still waiting.

I want to get my personal Tag for my car and they dropped the ball on doing all the paperwork for taxes for registering the car, and I went by there ASAP to get it paid, and still to this day await my car registration approval papers. I don't mind it, but I had to pay almost $500.00 more in taxes, and they still sit on their hands going slower than cold tar on Mount Everest. Got to love the putt putt now after they have your money, and how they crawl afterwards.

Talk about being the S--- in the toilet, not sure which way to go.

Thanks, but no thanks, Schomp Mini.
