Yup, this old horse peeled off on Hwy 6, y'all did not miss the heavy traffic on 6, but the twisties and tunnels were fun. Slow, but fun.

Great ride, very nice lunch (I would go again) and some fun people to run with over the pass and through the snow.

We took pictures, a lot via Patty who had fun on the drive today and to meeting new people.

Micheal, see how fast that paddle shifted automatic is at the entry to I70.

Don

Pictures up after I edit C&C for MaxN.

What a great ride! It is nice to see some areas we don't usually get to see. The conditions were a lot better than I was thinking they would be. It was nice to talk to everybody as well. My pictures are on my website. If you want the originals let me know.

We did have a great drive.

My Walden album, with a bonus photo for a lucky MINI5280 person.

Andy A. great set of pictures I hope you do not mind, but I added a couple to my local Scooter collection.

Enjoy, I am tarred, off to read a few pages, then bed.

Don

Anyone already cleaned their MINI? Just curious, I gave it a thought.

My pictures are posted

Here:

MINI5280 'Wide 'wound Walden - April 2008

Enjoy them. I enjoyed the ride with all of you:
  • Chuck and Chris
  • Russ
  • Andy
  • Dennis
  • Whitlow and Eleanor
  • Don and Pat
  • Michael
  • David B
  • Rick Gonzales
  • and our new friends from Wyoming (Steve & Teddie)
Thanks to all for sharing and going. For such a long ride, it seemed to have gone quite quickly. And yes, the scenery was very nice. We should do it again. Or some version of it.....perhaps thru Wyoming????

Photos of our twip to Walden and pwaces

This was a fun one. All conditions, dry, wet, slush, snowpack, snowbanks and very few flakes in SUVs. My total wound twip miwage was 322 miles. My photos are here (see the photos of two Moose I saw in Walden). This wide consisted of three major mountain passes and two crossings of the Continental Divide (river drainage):
  • Cameron Pass 10,276 ft
  • Willow Creek Pass 9,821 ft (Cont. Divide: from Atlantic to Pacific)
  • Berthoud Pass 11,315 ft (Cont. Divide: from Pacific to Atlantic)

Rick,

Dummy question, are you using standard XP screen capture to create your jpg image of the map image?

Nice set of pictures.

Don,
Yes. I used the "Alt" and "Prt Scr" keys (simultaneously), then I clicked one time in the browser's top bar (to select that particular window instead of the whole screen default). Then, in Photoshop Elements, I saved (pasted) the contents of that "cut" to a new file by selecting from the menu: File > New > Image from clipboard. Then I used Photoshop to crop and add the notations. I saved as a JPG file (72 DPI). I should have probably resized it a bit smaller for this posting. It displays better at full size (click the bar to view the full image). I can see your gears turning right now!

Thanks Rick. Gears are turning, collection of MINI fun run jpegs, perhaps.

Nice to day to clean up the MINI. There was enough crud on Scooter to take him down to the local high pressure place and do a very complete wash. The wheel wells had a ton of brown crud trapped.

MINI is clean, wiped, clear water post wash and hydro'd.

I really need to wash, clay and do some EPIC, soon. But to much travel coming up with RMVR events and SD, perhaps I will work it in before China.

Yeahhhh... right... whatever... I forgot to press my sport button and the throttle response was way too slow to even catch a cow... let along a 2007 MCS equipped with a cold air intake (and some other mods that I am not aware of) ... but l lost it fair and sqaure.. but you don't really have to rub it in... it was a fun day to hang out with everyone. Yeah the road condition was much better than I thought even though there were couple scary moments with gravels on the road when making those tight turns.

Taking pictures is an art

duh. Rick takes good ones. Most people look out and see a complete landscape. The good pics here are of some focal point within the landscape. I think that is what makes good pictures. Things other folks just look past.

Actually, I thought you were going ahead. Sport button, I don't use it.

Yes, some of the fresh sand and gravel made for some interesting turns. You will view the sand/gravel with a different eye when your very nice MCS is not so new.

Looks good, can't wait to hear and see it with the M7 bits.

We will have to do many more runs this year. MITM 3 has some great drives.

All the pictures were great, it was interesting to see what each of the us was drawn too, angles, focus and subject.

Other than MINIs, of course.

Or you could bring a Clubbie up to the Coffee and Cars thingy on May 3rd. See the Calendar.

Not an official 5280 event, but I'm recruiting coffee drinkers. Or tea or Soda....

Bummer David. Can't you ask your grandson to not graduate this year?
