FINALLY! After a long wait (put in a request for personalized plates on 10/1, paid on 10/25) Bean has his personalized plates!

I finally got my plates as well, and put one in my gallery. Not a great pic, but boy am I happy!

Congrats on the plates Bean, it's a nice touch.

Since we're showing off plates, I was looking around and am surprised that I don't have a few more pics that show my plate better. This is probably the closest shot I've got of my plate; the picture is good, even if the car is filthy. Not surprising considering the 10 miles of dirt road.

Vicky, BEAN looks good in the pictures with the new plates.

All the MINIs look good with the personal plates. Next year perhaps.

I'm typing away at the North Platte Hampton, tonights stop-over. See you all off and on as internet connections permit.

Don

I am so jealous. I tried four different times to get a v-plate only to fail. I finally went down to the County Clerk and asked to see a list to make the back-n-forth stop. She acted like it was a national security issue and would not let me see even a list of taken tags. So I gave up.
Love the BEAN, WNDBLWN is great and Jacob, I don't even know what your plate says but I'm still jealous!

Vicki - I'm really liking the MY/B!

It took me a moment for Jacob's plates, then I laughed! It's so creative! It's Pirate Ship!!!!!

Maybe we should put all our heads together and throw out ideas for your plates!!! That could be fun!

I've heard that other states allow you to request on-line and it shows what is taken! Too bad Colorado doesn't do that!

My plate was easy to come up with and i was very surprised that it wasn't already taken!! I'm glad to know that there is only one bean in Colorado!

Oh - gosh I'm so bad at figuring those things out. So that means Jacob is a pirate (just watched Dodge Ball again last night so this is funny).
Nice plate Jacob!

That could be fun. The hassle, as you know, is the request form. Only four names on a form, send it in and wait to be told none of those are available. Rinse and repeat.

Maybee, what you need to do is come up with a list of names which you want (since a number of them will be taken) and take them to the Department of Revenue which is located Lakewood on Pierce 2 blocks north of Colfax. They are the keeper of the personalized plates and will tell you live and in person which plates are available. Once you find one you want you can order it right there.

See I went to Arapahoe County Clerk thinking since they were the ones I buy the tags from they would be the one to issue v-plates. I will try the Lakewood office though. Thanks!

I know this is kinda cheating but I did a search for plates on this forum and actually " kinda" stole someone else's idea from another state.
My first plate request was denied but I ended up getting the second one
" MNIDRVR" not horribly creative but I thought it was funny since it could mean MINI DRIVER or the actress "MINNIE DRIVER"

There are lots of funny plates on other MINI'S in other states that likely are not already taken in CO. Don't despair I'm sure you will (or others here will) come up with something that fits you well that is not already taken.

My MINI driving sister lives in another state and her plates " MINIKIN" not sure what she was going for but have never seen that one before.

Nice plate Jacob!
You're kidding me Chuck! We've been motoring together for a year and it never clicked, eh? Thats some crazy stuff. My plate matches my personality, the skull and bones on my roof, my grille badge and a couple more graphics that will be installed at AMVIV this year.

Thanks for the cleaner picture Rudebox, I guess I don't have much reason to take pictures of my own plate.

Personalized plates are actually one of the best things about MINI gatherings anyhow; let's take Vegasfor example. You've got 400 cars and lots have personalized plates; there are some that just crack me up. Maybe you'll be inspired soon Chuck. If not, I'm sure the community will help find Matilda a good plate.

As MiniDaMoocher said I found that visiting the DMV in person was the easiest route. I went early (before they opened) and was among the first people through the doors when they opened. When I got inside they gave me a number and had me wait for the personalized plate person. I was their first customer of the day, so it was not hard. I didn't even have to rely on backup choices, so it went very smoothly.

The DOR can get pretty crowded, but in the 3 or 4 times I visited (couldn't make up my mind) I didn't wait once. They have dedicated tellers who only deal with personalized plates and they are not that busy.

In my case, the first couple of choices were taken so I had a hard time choosing between my myraid of other choices. WNDBLWN wasn't even on the list the first couple times I went, but it's what ended up on the car so that's what counts.

Vicki -- BEAN looks great! I also like the chrome scoop (have one too). Yeah, it's fun seeing the various vanity plates ("tags" in the east) at MINI events. PAUHANA was already taken and my other lame choices that I can't even remember were taken. Thanks for the fast track info. I'll have think of something clever. You can make any plate yourself (without going to prison), virtually that is, at the ACME License Plate Maker website. Any state, many new and old designs. Try it: http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/
Then just right click on the image and save it. There are a few other fun image generators at this site. See the thumbs below.

Wow, that is so fun!! Hey Chuck, this would be a great place to test out a name to see how it may look on a plate before you buy!!

I think I'm going to email Java Monster and tell them that my car is named after their Java Monster Mean Bean product. I'm going to ask if I can have a sticker for my car, or for permission to use their can design for a decal on my car. I have people asking me if it's named after the Mr Bean guy - I've never even seen one of those movies! I thought it might be easier if I display a can of mean bean on my little java car.

Ask for a free supply of their coffee while you are at it. After all you would be advertising their product and should get something in return.

You have a good point!! I'll try to get a trade off! Drinking mean bean's can get expensive (but not nearly as expensive as an addiction to starbucks, lol)

I am trying to figure out what to do with my roof. It might be fun to put a can of mean bean on the roof... or if not, then maybe a nice steaming cup of java! Sheesh, I really can't come up with any good ideas for my roof! I'd like to figure something out so that i can get it done during MITM!

Oh no you don't, now you have to provide posters for us to purchase (heh heh!)...

Shelly, Chuck are these really nice wall posters? I guess I will see them on the 6th and just wish a little.
