Hey Jim. You're welcome to stay in our guest bedroom (free, of course). We're only a few miles from Schomp. I'll PM you.

What do you want to do, a south mountain drive, twisties on the east plains?

Lots of possibilities.

I figure I will hit the foothills roads north after the unveiling but if someone whats to run east then south, I could run east then back north.

I suppose that we could work out a ride

either before or after....as long as we get coffee.

Anyone else game?

After works, out east then split for north or south as your needs dictate?

Let's gather a crowd there, pick a time, then leave.

Yah, I hear ya Brihyanna, I'm getting itchy for some motoring. I think that after is the best bet, gives us plenty of time to meet the new cars then figure out a direction to get out and drive.

See you guys Saturday.

Just out of curiosity... What's the W. Dragon look like this time of year?

The Western Dragon can be open

but it also can have snow on it, in whole or in parts.

One way to find out. It leads to Idaho Springs, a good place to stop at the Tommyknocker for the best WINGS in Colorado...

When does Mt. Evans usually open Jonathan? We went up that way on the supposed opening day last year.

Last year we saw most forms of colorado weather on our journey across. Dry at home, rain in the relatively lower elevation of Evergreen, snow (sometimes blizzard like) further up by the Ski resort. Then all mixes between freezing sleet and even a little hail at various elevations in between. Up top, there were even a few spots in the road where plows had left only one lane of the road open. There was about eight inches of snow piled in the other.

Frankly I'm not sure what the weather looks like right now, but I'm willing to bet that we can drive it regardless of conditions. Or we can try for something a little lower elevation and hope for good weather.

Oh, I'd meant to ask. Shelly, as our official Liason with the Dealership, where should we be parking Saturday?

I know that we have used the school in the past, but I also know that sometimes they have stuff going on and are packed to the gills. Any kind of heads up you can provide would be great.

Mt. Evans details

Here is the deal:

Mt Evans typically open on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. I have been up the last few years, both times it opened. We have been one of the first cars up each time. The Clear Creek Ranger District posts a the ME site at www.mtevans.com but to be sure, we have called the CCR Station in Idaho Springs, they tell us if or when the road will be opened.

Of course, Chuck should schedule this event because we are going up again.

There has been plenty of snow that last two years. This should be no exception. The key is whether or not they can get their snowplow up and down that road to the top. If not, it does not open.

We will keep you posted.

Hey everyone! Do what I do when everyone wants a Starbucks. Have a large Hot Chocolate. It's hard to screw that up . Hopefully the snow will be gone by Saturday. I'll see you all at Starbucks.

I'm must miss the event as well. I am driving my son to Flagstaff to visit Univ of Northern Arizona (in the MINI weather permitting). I will however be sending my darling wife and a daughter or two to the event. Rick and Jonathan will also be there.
So park across the street at the high school, gather for the meeting when called, look for the membership table and lend a hand if you have the time. There will be door prizes, dancing monkeys and a litany of movie stars to occupy your time and attention. Well, I'm not sure about the monkeys or movie stars but there will be door prizes!

I would love to but I get back Sunday and turn around and drive to Wyoming on Monday. Damn work! Always getting in the way of fun. I should quit and have all the fun I want, when I want it. But on the second day I'd be out of money so back to work.
Thanks for the invite Jon, I may have to sneak over there some weekend.
