The car has ~110k lifetime miles, but the engine was fully rebuilt at ~88k miles (so that's <25k miles on the rebuild). It's a super-solid engine with no oil burn since the rebuild, even on track days.
Modded with a 15% overdrive supercharger pulley and a hydraulically dampened crank pulley.
It periodically spits out the P0296 OBDII fault code but it stays off long enough to clear it and get through emissions testing. That code sounds like it has to do with an O2 sensor though, so it may have nothing to do with the engine.
The engine is still in the car which is still in my driveway, so you can verify that it really runs and runs well prior to me pulling it out and putting it on a pallet for you.
This offer is for the complete engine with all accessories, not just the bare block & head that recyclers will sell you for $3000.
Regional delivery available and negotiable.
The engine died due to oil starvation resulting from an increasing oil burn rate coupled with oil pressure sensor failure on the "everything's fine here!" side. The low oil level reduced the effectiveness of the timing chain tensioner, and the loose chain flapping away shaved the plastic chain guide/cassette, and the shavings clogged up the oil pickup tube. When the oil light finally flickered on in a tight turn, there was only about a quart and a half left in it. After topping off the oil level, it went another week or so before expiring on I-84.
The block, rods, bearings, crank, etc were completely toast, but the head was good. My mech and I bought a ~50k mile engine with a broken upper mounting ear on the head. After machine shop cleaning, my original head was mated to the used block, with all new bearings and seals and piston rings. I have a several-page receipt for the work that I will share with interested buyers, which documents what parts were used.
The S/C and crank pulleys were the only mods we did during the rebuild. The transmission got a fresh clutch while we were in there.
Bottom line - it's a rock-solid nicely-modded engine, complete with SC and all accessories mounted, for less than the price of a recycler's bare block and head with no known history on it.
