Traded in the MINI on Monday for a 2011 VW GTI, this is used ALTA full Turbo Back Exhaust. As most of you know, ALTA no longer produces the 3" downpipe that this exhaust includes, and as most of you have found out, this 3" Catted (Or a 2.5" NON Catted) Downpipe is required to run ALTA's Stage 3 tune on the AccessPort.

This is ALTA's original design with the 3" downpipe and clamped on oval exhaust tip. This tip can be swapped out for any clamp on style exhaust tip from PERRIN (ALTA's father company). The only differences between this Generation 1 exhaust and the new exhaust are that the tip on this muffler is clamped on and is of an oval design which fills the space in the bumper very nicely (and is quite unique), the new design has dual oval tips that are welded to the muffler. The rear muffler and piping lengths are the exact same, so if you needed to replace a section of pipe or the rear muffler, you can swap out with the new design (Verified with Adam at ALTA). The other difference is the size of the muffler in the middle section of piping, it is of a larger diameter than the new design, but again the piping connections remain in the same spots, so in the future, you can swap out any of the pieces for the new stuff.

This exhaust is all Stainless Steel, and since it's Stainless Steel it hasn't rusted, and can be cleaned up with Mothers Mags and Metal polish, a green scrubby, and some elbow grease (Adam sent me this link to a thread all about cleaning up exhausts, check it out: http://static.olark.com/jsclient/fol...erformance.com )

This system, like the new design, uses all V-Band clamps which creates a complete 3" system, unlike normal designs that use regular clamps that require one pipe to be downsized to fit inside the next pipe, and the connections get disformed, this exhaust system is in the same functional state as when I bought it new, no leaks, no structural rust. The V-Band clamp design also makes a complete exhaust system that requires NO gaskets at any of the connections after the turbo outlet! It utilizes the stock turbo outlet gasket (depending on mileage on the car, you may want to replace the turbo outlet gasket just to ensure no leaks at the turbo).

Here is a link to the new design, again, the only difference is dual tip vs. single oval tip, and the size of the mid section muffler, everything else is the same: http://altaperformance.com/i-1400713...bo-engine.html

If you have a MINI pre 2011, take a look at your turbo oil feed line for leaks. MINI used plastic crush washers on the banjo nut of the feed line, as most people (other than MINI engineers) that the turbo goes from ambient air temps to high temps and back to ambient air temps every time you drive your car, plastic gets brittle after multiple heat cycles, and fails. The replacement of these oil lines requires the removal of the downpipe, so this is the perfect time to replace those lines with MINI's new design (utilizing BRASS crush washers). Google "MINI turbo oil feed line failure" and you will find plenty of threads confirming this, and it happened to me.

Here are a couple of photos of the exhaust and how it looks in the rear. It was dirty, but I didn't have time to clean it up. I will clean up the exhaust and post better photos of the complete system this Saturday (3/1/14)

Price for just the exhaust without the downpipe new from ALTA is $999 + shipping, so my price of $700 + shipping for functionally the exact same exhaust PLUS the downpipe is a good price! SOLD
