Used Access port Alta performance Cobb tuning. For R56 2007-2010
It's a little over a year old now, sold my Mini last week.
I had to have Cobb tuning unlock it for me as I didn't remember to uninstall the software. Software is latest version Cobb just went over unit in great shape still have the original boxes with the unit.

when does alta/cobb stop supporting it ? what type of mods are required for the tune thats on the AP ? Also, what happens after they stop supporting and something needs to be adjusted ?

The programmer has been sold but to answer your questions.
These units come with 3 stages of programming. For stock cars and slight mods.
Like cat back exhaust, larger intercooler and one other one I can't remember. Even though this is a Cobb tunning programmer all programs were done by Alta.
All the stock programs worked great, plus you can clear and read codes.
Cobb tunning would do repairs on unit not Alta.
But as I've found out through someone that bought unit they must have had an early version of a Eprom and there was only one program for it in unit. Not the several that come with it.
