Brit Fest 09 - Roxbury, NJ - May 2nd
This is _NOT_ my event but it is a British Car Show event that some ppl here might enjoy either to show off your car or to spectate.
I found out about this from the Mom who was on her way home from work:

Hi Stephen, You and your Mini are welcome to join us. We have a class for Minis and several "old & new" generally show up. We park the cars in the show on the grass in front of the bandstand. It's too late to preregister but I attached a form for you. Just show up and someone at the entrance will be there to set you up and helpers inside will show you where to park. Come join us. It's a fun day. The MG car club is not for MG owners only. We have several members without MG's but enjoy British cars. If you enjoy cars it's a good way to stay involved with other people that enjoy cars. I'll be helping out at Britfest so hope to see you there. Denis Nelson
NEW Additional information:
Most of the cars show up between 9:00 & 11:00. Judging ends @ 12:30. Come as late as you want and leave as early as you want. No restrictions. Door prizes and trophys are given out about 2:30-3:00 No rain date.

I live in Roxbury Township but I have never been to this event. It is a great facility and I've spent more hours there watching and participating in my kid's sports then I could ever count. Is there interest in this group to make a showing of our Mini's (do we still quailify as "British" - or are we German????)? I know it is only a week away - but.......
Its suppose to rain so I may end up just spectating. I don't know but I'll play it by ear.... or by www.weather.com for that matter.
Is it true that if you bring your car to a car show that you need to watch your car the whole time your there? Someone who did the "LEAD EAST" car show had this problem and didn't get to see anything else. I spectated that show and had a horrible time anyway. I'm sure this one is going to be much more down to earth then that horrible LEAD EAST show at the Parsippany Hilton last year.

After you've attended a few shows in a paved parking lot in the middle of Summer, you will LOVE shows where you can park on grass. Trust me on this one.
The best is on grass in the woods - re: the Hellertown, PA (off I-78 near the NJ boarder) Brit-car show in June.

The only kind of show that would require you to stay by your car (and not all day mind you) would be a concours show, ie where they have a team of judges judging all the cars in different classes. The judges might have questions regarding your car or if something is period correct, stuff like that. In participant Choice shows, you set up your car and then you can walk around. Almost all local shows are PC types.
Cheers

Well I was there and it was fun.
It was a beautiful day, no rain at all. Clown was not part of the show, I just spectated and took lots of photos. No one was at a "gate" to take my 3.00 admission as advertised so it was free. I bought a MINI t-shirt so someone benifited from my being there at least.
Call me a traider or whatever but for me the highlight was a chance to see those lovely Lotuses. I want to get a low cost mid engine two seater sports car next so I'd certainly concider a Lotus. The Lotus ppl were very nice, I spoke to a fella and his wife who had a very attractive wedge shaped green Lotus with yellow wheels. I'm a total noob to figuring out the models of those so I don't recall what that was. There was also a newer convertable Lotus there with the praying mantus style "face" which was very dirty yet everyone was all over that taking photos just the same.
There were 3 classic Minis, one was in the shape of a dump truck. I'm not sure if it was made this way or chopped. Also present was the green classic mini owned by a British fella that posts on the www.minis-on-the-edge.com message board. He was busy gabbing with the swarm of fans around his car so I didn't get to say hello. Also there was one first gen BMW mini and a British Racing Green (Barvarian Racing Green as he called it *LOL*) R56 Mini. I spoke with the man who bought the R56, I beleive his name was Paul and he mentioned he posts on here. I learned something worth while from him about the A-Piller swirl marks. He only just bought this one a few weeks ago from MTM and I saw it already had the swirl marks on the A-Pillers. So I'm learning that these cars come with swirl marks on the plastic piller covers. Perhaps I'm over obsessing about this on mine and perhaps I didn't scratch them all up myself. I may have made it worse but seeing that brand new Minis come like this makes me feel not so terrible.
Only two MINI owners were by their vehicles so I didn't get to BS as much as I would have liked which was a shame.
There were Mini die cast toys for sale here too as well as some nice wedge shaped Triumph sport cars.
I'd certainly go back to the next one in the fall and maybe show my car as well.
Paul gave me a flyer for another British car show at the Red Mill Museum Village in Clinton NJ for June 7th. I may have to go to this one as well.

Lots o' luck SLIM Mc.
Hi 1992 I just saw your post the British fella with the green mini was me -- the Irish lad with the green mini with the shamrocks on the doors I also had the red xjs that was parked next to it -- what can I have a thing about English cars hope you had fun at the show
Lots o' luck SLIM Mc.

Doh! Sorry m8, I guess the shamrocks should have tipped me off. You had two cars there? How did you logisticaly sort that out?
Well I'm sure I'll see you again this summer and actually get to say hello. Your classic is sexy as hell, even the rims fit the color scheme perfectly!
I took lots of photos from the show, I have to get them online, I'll try to upload them tonight.
Hi again 1992 the pics look great I see you liked the tr7 I have a 1979 yellow one back in Ireland I must have it more than 20 years -- the jag is also in the pics I always think Minis are sexy --- even the Austin Minis
Lots o' luck SLIM Mc.
Lots o' luck SLIM Mc.
The TR7 is an interesting looking car. I quite like that wedge shape in general as its now quite retro. I discovered my mother almost bought a TR7 but was swayed away from it due to its known issues. Doesn't matter, the way she keeps cars it would have been long gone before I ever saw it. I see the TR7 even made it into "The World's Worst Cars" book by Craig Cheetham. Obviously its possible to keep them running as that one made it there. I hope yours is indoors in some storage facility, its blatantly a collectors item.
My favorite car at that show was actually the blue and green Lotus Esprits. Thats got to be the hottest looking car I've seen recently next to the Ferrari 328 Mondial I saw in a parking lot a few weeks ago. I also discovered that an old Xbox game I have lets you play the Lotus Esprit as well as the Europa, Sega GT 2002.
