Please post tail of the dragon stories!!!

This day was like no other. It was a day to remember. The night before my dad and I had worked on jazzing up our (my mini). We first started by deciding how we were going to apply the vinyl. We finally came up with putting a surfer dude riding a dragon tail. It went on the back window on either side. We had worked on it from about 7:00PM-2:00AM. It took some time to get every thing just right. We also had made a surfboard rack (a roof rack) and hoisted it up on top of the mini. We then came up with a neat way to strap it down. We used big bungee straps to hold it down.
Now to get back to the story. We had gotten up at about 7:30AM. It was then we realized that this was going to be the best day ever. We started planning on what we needed to take and then get it packed. Now about this time it was 8:30. We attempted to pack up our Mini Cooper. As we were packing the car we had noticed that we had forgotten to get a few things. Now after packing the car and getting the rest of what we needed, it was about 9:00AM. This was time to hit the road and burn some rubber.
Our first few hours were just spent in the car. At about 11:00 or 11:30 (can't remember exactly what time it was.) we met up with another member of our M2C2 Mini group. His name is Eric. We got some lunch then got back on the road to make up some time. On our journey on the road we could only get up to 70MPH because the surfboards would rattle. We did not want them to blow off and ruin our motoring experience.
At about 3:30 we showed up at the Tail of the Dragon festival. My dad got settled in and registered. This was a great bonding moment for my dad and I.
For the next few hours we just hung around and talked to a few people. We also saw people that had been there last year on the 2005 Tail of the Dragon.
Then it was time for us to go to our hotel. We drove for about 15 min or so to get there. We stayed at Tapoco Lodge. As we got there, my Mother showed up also. We all hung out for about an hour and got settled in and then we went back down to Fontana Village to mingle with the their Mini owners.

This day was one of my favorites. I woke up at about 7:30AM. I went down with my Parents and had some breakfast. My dad wanted to sleep in so I told him and my mother that I was going down to the picture taking down at the dam. When I got there they had all ready taken it and people were just lining up. People were out of their cars just chatting and taking pictures.
Then at about 9:15 every one got back into their cars and was getting ready for the parade up the Tail of the Dragon. This was my first time driving up it by myself. I was kind of nervous. On the way up it was an exhilarating rush of excitement. When we all got to the end, we stopped to talk some more and take more pictures of the nice views that were up there. Then we all came back down in different groups. Then I went back and picked up my dad.
The rest of the day was filled full of chatting, getting to know new people and meeting old friends. It had been raining off and on.

Today was going to be filled with going to the Autocross. This was my first time going to this kind of event. When we got there, we saw tons of different cars, ranging from Minis to sports cars. We watched it for about 3 hours and then decided to come back down the Mountain. When we had arrived at our hotel, my Mother and Father wanted to leave a little early. I decided to stick it out and stay for the farewell dinner.
That was a Great event. There was great food and there also was a great big ice sculpture. It was carved into a Mini Cooper S. We all sat around and talked. Then it was time to go to the closing remarks and give out the rest of the prizes. Then I hung around for about 30 more minutes after that. It was about 11:00 when I got back to my hotel.

I got up, had breakfast with the Atlanta Mini group and hit the road for a three and a half hour trip back to Matthews.
This has been a great event. I will be back for it in 2007.
