I will be attending the Moonshine Run in Elkin, NC on May 1, 2010. I've taken part in this rally in the past, and it was a blast!! It starts on Main Street in Elkin, NC (exit 82 off I-77) at 10:30am on Saturday 5/1/2010. It's a tour of Wilkes County , Ashe County and some of Watauga County in North Western North Carolina. It will end at one of the Yadkin Valley wineries. This tour will be run on back roads (but not dirt roads) there is however about a five mile section that will run four lane US-421.

The Moonshine Run Tour will be run like the TSD rallies but without set times, average speeds or check points. It will run along some of the South Fork of the New River to Fleetwood and Todd , NC with participants being able to stop wherever they like to view the scenery.

Bring and enjoy a picnic lunch with us at the vineyard.

All proceeds and donations will go to the LUPUS FOUNDATION.

If anyone's interested in joining me, we can meet around Huntersville or Cornelius and caravan up I-77 to the rally. It's a great time!!

 

This sounds like fun. Is there a website or something dedicated to this run? Is this a MINI event or all cars?

 

Well, when I attended this in 2008, there was a little bit of everything. Alot of Miatas, British cars, Miatas, Vettes, etc, etc, etc. Contact Jon Saylor of the Triad Austin Healy Club for more info. I saw a post on NAM from Triad Minis, and they're going to go also. Let me know if you want to go.
