Charging MINI E at dealer

Does anybody know if mini dealers will allow individuals to charge their leased mini e at a dealership. As long as you are not in a hurry, a quick charge in the middle of a trip would greatly expand the range. (i.e. Orange County to an overnight stay in Santa Barbara, or LA to an overnight stay in San Diego)

Greg, the dealer I'm working with said that they each dealer involved in the program (Calabasas, Irvine, Santa Ana, Long Beach, Downtown LA, Torrance, Monrovia, North Hollywood) is getting a charger and it will be "available" to us. What I don't know is - 1) will it be 24/7 accessible (ie. outside) 2) any other dealers also getting one? E.g. one at the Encinitas dealership would make that San Diego jaunt a reality . . . otherwise the nearest dealership is 80 miles away in Irvine . . . too far!

San Diego Connection

Julie and I are thinking about keeping a Mini-E calendar on our website,

Herons House

Folks could stop by and charge/drive in S.D. county. We are in Carlsbad, Ca overlooking a lagoon in a very unique zero energy home

We are getting the charger, as most are, that apparently takes 3.5 to 5 hours to charge.

Our thoughts are (we are a home not a B&B) sort of a "Mini-E, B&B" for Mini E drivers only during the Field Trial period. A typical trip might look like this:

A drive down, quick partial recharge while you enjoy the estate vineyard, cellar and estate wine in the vineyard or on the decks. Then off to dinner in Carlsbad/Encinitas/Del Mar, over night in our guest quarters at the home while recharging in the protected garage. After breakfast and a one day stay, its then time to return to points north. Or, in the morning, your off exploring La Jolla, San Diego or Temecula wine country, or perhaps kayaking or spending the day at the beach, returning in the evening for another nights stay and recharge.

Our thoughts are $150 a night including charging and our Estate Brunello wine
(lower than most higher end accommodations in Carlsbad)

If you just want to charge, and you want to hang out for 3 to 5 hours you're welcome to that as well as long as we are home. (70% of the time)

Thoughts?

This would be great, Peder! It's very nice that you would offer this to 250 strangers.

I used google maps to determine I'm 125 miles from Carlsbad. Might be cutting it close! I'll have to see what the real range of the car is once I've had some experience with it.

Soareyes,

Looks like you need a charging buddy in the OC as well, 125miles on the freeway is a little doubtful. but you might make it.

Julie and I figure that the background check BMW/Mini did on you all was sufficient to weed out the miscreants If they trust you with a 60k-90k car I think were safe with an extra set of keys and an extra garage door opener for Mini-E folk.

Cheers
Peder

But what if we have the gas version and we still want to stop by and sample the wine? =)

Awesome offer you've put out!

I looked into this when I picked up my car last Thursday from Mini of Monrovia. The Clipper Creek wall box is available for us to use but it is located inside the service garage, so probably only useful when the service department is open. I suspect the other dealers have a similar setup.

My girlfriend was at East Bay Mini in Pleasanton, CA and took this pic with her cell today:

I don't own an e-mini, but it's ironic I saw this very thread today when she just sent me the pic about 15 mins ago.
