MINI got front ended...

Today I was driving with a friend around Yorkville when the worst thing happened. I pulled up behind a van in the left turn lane and I looked over to speak with my co-pilot. She looked freaked out and she yelled...the van was backing up!!! At this point I was freaked out and I tried to put the car in reverse when bam!!!

The gentlemen driving the van claimed that he did not see me and just decided to back up. Sure, he was not going to fast at all but there was damage to my bumper from my gominigo plate holder. I called the police and I had an accident report filled out. They asked me if I wanted the guy to get a ticket and I told them no.

The damage is minor, the bolt left a spot on the bumper and there is a rub mark where the plate hit it.

Oh well, 1 year and 364 days of my car being accident free. Tomorrow is the birthday of my car and mine too.

Happy birthday to me!!!

Well that sucks for a bday present, but at least you were cool enough not to be too upset about it.

Sorry to hear about the bump and I'm sure you'll have it back to pristine conditions soon enough.

Where's the pics!

Happy Birthday too!

Wow, bummer. Doesn't sound like the damage is too awful, and I commend your patience in not pushing for a ticket. I don't know if I'd have done the same.

My wife had pretty much the same thing happen. Some lady (total hosebeast, btw) was too far in an intersection and decided to back up. Too bad she was in an Excursion, and her backup sonar was pinging the windshield of my wife's Tiburon because the bumper is so high. We got a really nice impression of a trailer hitch about halfway up the hood.
