Damn License Plate...

My Dad decided to get my front license plate installed even though I didn't want it Then again, he bought me a car Does anyone know where I can get some sort of inserts that plug up those holes on my bumper?

Don't know about plugging up the holes but an easy way to prevent them in the first place is to just get one of the brackets that mount the license plate on the towhook.

I wish it was optional in Illinois, but it is required... Usually, cops don't give you a hard time about it though. My Dad's car hasn't had a license plate on the front since he bought it over a year ago, and he hasn't had any trouble with it

if you do get caught it'd at worst be like a $25-40 ticket

there's a company that specializes in designing/engineering/manufacturing/selling these hole plugs color matched. do a search, you'll find it

I have your same color car and the license plate holder also left two holes on the bumper. What I ended up doing was simply removing the holder and put the two screws (with washers) back in the holes. They are perfect fit ;-) and don't look bad at all on our dark gray cars. Just my quick fix...

We live in Illinois and my wife has received a $75 ticket for not having the front license plate installed a couple of years ago on another car. When we were taking delivery of our Mini recently, they asked if we wanted to have the front plate installed. We thought about it for a minute and then decided we didn't need the hassle of getting pulled over and receiving another ticket. Our MA said we made a good choice because in the prior week, a couple of customers that purchase mini's and didn't have their plate installed on the front returned to get it installed after getting a ticket. Just keep in mind that they can pull you over at any time and any place for no other reason then the front plate missing!

Hey, it's all about the demographic of their clientele. It wasn't designed for the sensible fun-loving folk who buy MINIs.

True, but most of the time they have better things to do and you have to do something to get their attention.

The fine is $75 or $80 in Ohio. I figure people pay more than that for mods that make less difference in the appearance. My only concern is whether an officer who knows I disregarded the ticket can do anything to escalate the charge.
