Check out the tirerack tests and ratings.

Keep in mind that tirerack is pretty critical about performance when testing so tests aren't superlative but they are good considering the cost of the tire.

Lots of people have bought them and ratings are quite good to good.

Keep in mind this is a street tire at reasonable cost, not some track worthy Max Performance tire or autocross specialty tire.

Also this is a summer tire and not meant for snow.
It does well in wet or dry.

For daily use and normal street use, or for use with any MC the General Exclaim UHPs are good. They are easy/comfortable to live with, come in sizes for the MINI, perform well enough, and are safe for wet or dry conditions. And they are easy on the pocketbook and don't wear out too fast.

Thanks for the info, but I am also looking for someone with actual experience. The Tire Rack info in helpful but the last set of Generals I had sucked big time. Granted they were a much different tire, but were high performance. Before seeing these I has sworn off General tires.
Any first hand experience would be very helpful.

Just about every tire company makes high grade and low grade tires for different specifications.

Which general tires did you have? Check to see what class of tires they were.

MINIs use high performance summer or all season tires or better- including Extreme performance, Max performance or Ultra High performance classes tires.

Even within each class there are some really good tires and some not so good ones.

General did a pretty good job with the Exclaim UHP but it's not perfect. It's always going to be a trade off with cost vs performance and wear along with tire sizes that you can use.

For other MINI owners using General Exclaim UHP:
Contact "jefeant" in Alabama

I put them on my MCS about a month ago. Have put about 4000 miles on them (2600 to/from Vegas for AMVIV 4) and I like them.

Prior to these tires I had BF Goodrich g-Force Sports, which went about 20,000 miles and were good tires, nothing extraordinary but I was very happy with them. I was going to get the same tire but after reading a lot of reviews on the UHPs and talking to a couple of friends that have VW GTIs I decided to give the UHPs a try.

The General Exclaim UHPs definitely ride better and are quieter than the g-Force Sports. They don't stop any better. Both these and the previous brand do well in the rain - much better then the OEM runflats. Neither tire is something I would say would do very well on the track. These are not a high performance tire, but they are great for everyday use.

I'm very happy with the Exclaim UHPs and also pleased that they cost less than the g-Force Sports. I'd buy them again.

Thanks everyone, that pretty much answers my question as i'm looking for a high performance summer only tire as my 03's only gets out for Club runs,Dragon, etc. No wet runs unless caught in it.
Thanks Again,
Bill

I recently got the UHPs in 205/50/16 and they are 2-3 pounds lighter than most tires in this size. General is owned by Continental Tire, which makes another lightweight tire, the ContiSportContact2.
