Car Control Clinic
Found this on the Milwaukee MINI site.
Saturday May 12, 2007 at 8:00 amLocation: State Fair Park in West Allis, WI
Last year several Milwaukee MINI members took part in the Car Control Clinic presented by the Badger Bimmers, and we highly recommend this opportunity to anyone that missed it. Take the class if you want to have fun spinning your car out of control and more importantly, learning to bring it back into control! Take the class if you want to learn accident avoidance!
If you have a young driver in the family, be sure to sign them up with you so that they can learn how to be a better driver in a safe environment! This is a very comfortable experience for everyone, no matter what your experience level may be.
What to Expect
• Plan to arrive at 8:00 am to check in. Teaching session begins at 8:30 am sharp.
• The day consists of a combination of classroom sessions and driving exercises. These are designed to teach participants to understand some of the physics of driving and to teach participants how to respond in critical situations.
Here’s an overview of some exercises:
The Braking exercise will let you feel your ABS brakes and know when and how to engage them and how to respond to them. You will learn to slow or stop your car safely and accurately. This will also wake you up in the morning.
The Skid pad will help you learn throttle control. This exercise is usually run on a slope. This will force the car to accelerate and decelerate without the drivers input forcing them to correct with the appropriate amount if throttle input. This exercise is also very fun.
The Slalom exercise gives you the opportunity to feel the side-to-side weight transfer in your car. This is especially important when you are cornering or maneuvering obstacles in traffic.
The Lunch will stop you from passing out. You will have an hour to eat your lunch. While there are local restaurants we encourage you to bring your own lunch.
The P-Curve will help you learn how to get your car under control when it starts to slide. You will begin to develop proper correction techniques that will keep you safe and out of the ditch!
The Accident Avoidance exercise teaches you how to swerve to miss obstacles in the road while keeping your car under control.
The Autocross is a combination of all the exercises. We do this toward the end of the day after you’ve had plenty of opportunities to practice the exercises separately. We set up a twisty course that is low-speed and safe, but it is somewhat challenging. Past participants report that this is the most fun of the day.
• Instructors will be with you throughout the day. They will conduct the important classroom sessions and guide you during the exercises.
• Participation in this event will not hurt your car nor will it void any warranty or insurance you have on your car.
• We will put on this event in the rain or in sunshine.
Use this registration form
• The price is $25 with lunch included with that price
• Send your completed registration form and check for payment to:

[quote=MOE4me;1521340]First time shooting this super-tele, handheld. Glad there was a lot of light so I could shoot quick. Looks like the images turned out pretty sharp for a 100-500mm lens. I especially liked how the sunglasses of the driver of the HB/W glowed that orangish/red color in the shots.
That was Blake from Chicago Club.

I have asked the guy that ran that event if we could host one down here. Will let you all know when and if that comes together. I think everyone could learn something at this clinic about your MINI and your driving level will improve.
The HO/B MCSC was Mike. He is from Illinois. I want to say this without hurting anyone's feelings...Mike looks like he is Amish. It is not a bad thing, he just has a very distinct beard. I think it is kind of cool.
He was at the BSSP run.
Rick, the pictures came out GREAT. I think I will want hi-rez copies of all mine. HB/W. I want a camera like yours.

ok.. I remember him now, Blake... he attended the Webb Pulley party at Gabe's last year and was was at the WI 4th of July Parade we attended last year as well. I definitely remember the beard. that reminds me... I finally shaved upon returning from MOTD
Dustin - definitely post something if this happens again

Any details...contact info to register, etc? I would actually like to participate, rather that sit on the sidelines again.
