from my understanding... MINI selected registered owners in the areas where the billboards are located and sent them emailed invites. I know there isn't a link on the OL (i've looked). You can only register for the key-fob through the invite. I guess MINI will see what kind of response they get from the initial emails and determine whether to expand this or not.
I've done my part and registered for the key-fob.. should get it in 4-6 weeks. I'll have to make a special run just to see it in action... another reason to motor

Yeah it's "invite only" for now. Once they send out all of the fobs they are going to send out a survey to see how well it works and if it's worth it to send to all MINI owners. I think it's only really worth it if you drive past the billboard every day. Fortunally I drive down 294 every day to work. So every day I get to see my name in lights, I feel like a superstar! (not really)
ah just got an update from MINIUSA:
"...sometimes there's a bug or two. But rest assured that the bugs are being squashed and we'll be mailing out your Motorby key fob very soon..."

I just read that as well. From someone involved in testing, I can relate. It is usually cheaper to fix things before they are distributed than it is trying to recall or update buggy devices.Hopefully they get things ironed out quickly.
ok guys... to find the road the billboard (if coming from the north or O'Hare):
- take IL Rte 12/45 (Mannheim Rd)
- turn RIGHT onto Belmont Ave
- heading WEST on Belmont, turn RIGHT onto Williams Dr (less than 1/2 block)
- heading NORTH on Williams, turn LEFT at Franklin Ave (T intersection)
- heading WEST on Franklin, turn LEFT onto Wolf Rd (after you pass under 294)
- Immediately after turning onto Wolf, you need to turn RIGHT onto Addison then LEFT onto King Ave
- follow King Ave until you see the billboard.
I might make a small (large) detour on my way back to WI tonight to see the billboard (even though I have no tag--maybe I'll chill a bit and see if anyone with the tag drives by?). Funny, I took 294 SB to 290 on my way into Chicago on Saturday... I must have been too preoccupied at the time to notice.
that's AWESOME!!! i want one, but i never ever go down that way... mine would say something like "slow traffic move right" or "your SUV is a POS"...
man, we're in the cool kid club for sure. only we're nice to outsiders...
