R56 Ride and Tire Pressure
Ride and Tire Pressure
Decided to check the tire pressure again, and after checking the manual, I realized I really didn't need to have the "fully loaded car, > 100 MPH" tire pressure going, which is nearly what the dealer loaded it up with. That spec is 41 PSI for the MCS, mine was loaded with 39.
So, I brought it down to 36 all 'round, which is the "fully loaded, < 100 MPH" spec and the "two people, no luggage, 100MPH+" spec.
Wow. I have to amend my previous comments about a softer ride. On grooved pavement tramlining is reduced, and the roughness/semi-instability over crack-filled asphalt is also reduced.
So, yeah, I have to backtrack and say it's a smoother ride, but it still feels very solidly planted.

Tire Pressure
Before we went to the Phil Wicks Driving School at AMVIV,we decided to buy new tires, since ours both had @25,000 miles on them.We put Falkens on her 05 MCS Cabrio, with a complete balance and alignment. She complained about the tires, saying they were tram-lining.The grooves in the road were driving the car!She didn't really notice it until we were almost to Vegas, from San Diego. She was ready to buy different tires!
After a 1 1/2 hour stop to eat and shop,I checked her tire pressures.Every corner was at 42 lbs.!I lowered the pressure to 35 lbs.,and now her nice ride and control are back!Oh yes,her tire size is 215/35-17,which does make a comfortable ride with the right pressure on a Cabrio.
