The reason there haven't been any answers yet is because your initial post is a tad confusing. The honeycomb grille is not solid in the back. Check any of the head-on pics of the R56 and you can see right through it. In fact, some people have complained about the visibility of the radiator and intercooler through the grille.

The badge holders should work just fine, especially since the honeycomb grille was available as an option for the previous gen.

I apologize, I didn't notice the model. But the fact that you have a slat grille makes for an even stronger case for the badge holder's mounting capability.

I had the same experience - Expected to just open the hood and screw on a badge, but the plastic grill is impossible to get behind without taking it off.

I asked one of the mechanics at my dealer for his opinion, and he ended up taking a little tool to pop off a number of little plastic rivets, he pulled the grill piece off, then I attached the badge, and we put it back in place and reinserted the little plastic rivets. (for free, and it only took 5 minutes - nice guy)

We discussed the fact that one might be able to pop the rivets off yourself, with a screwdriver, and put them back on yourself, but he said it would likely damage some of the rivets and they would either be unusable as far as replacing them, or damaged enough that they wouldn't fit or hold as solidly.

I also had to get some shorter srews than the badge came with, because it is a pretty shallow distance between the grill and the radiator front.

Anyway, good luck.

- R

It's not very easy even with the honeycomb grill on the S. I had to install mine all the way over on one side and even then, I was only able to get one of the two nuts on (without removing the grill).

You can get an idea of the positioning here:
