Wait period from time of deposit?

hello, i've put a deposit for my new mini 3/9 and was told i would receive my new mini sometime mid/late may. i've been looking at the Owner's Lounge to track my car. the question is how long does it take for it to move from the "On Order" to the "Scheduled for Production." list? is that when i would get the production number? this wait is killing me!!!
thanks

Took three weeks for me. Call ASK MINI and don't rely upon website it's at least a week off.

I ordered 3/2, it went into production 3/5, was completed 3/12, shipped 3/14 and arrived in New York 3/22. Can't believe how quick everything has happened....

It really depends. Basically the dealer is allocated x production slots for the month. They place the car as built by you in one of those production slots, and it depends on which one they stick you in. If their march production slots are already full then you may get stuck in an april production slot, in which case you'll wait until April whenever when your production slot comes up. Calling Ask-Mini will usually yeild more info than the website.

Best defense against this kind of anxiety is "When it gets here, it gets here"! That doesn't mean you should stop looking. The owner's lounge is usually behind by some amount, but the important thing is... it will ge here sometime and then the "Permagrin" starts. I just passed 5K on my Sgt Pepper who arrived Dec 22d and it still gives me the shivers to hop in and have a blast! Congratulations and welcome to the club!

3 weeks from "On Order" to "Scheduled For Production"

1 week to go into production.

For me, however it was 5 months from the time I put down a depost until the car was even "On Order", sooooo....

Ordered on 2/21

Went into production on March 5th. Was finished by March 12th.

Loaded on the Maersk Wind on March 14th.

Sailed through the Panama Canal on March 27th.

Currently steaming it's way past San Diego to be unloaded later today.

I should have it from my dealer by Monday at the latest.

I have to say, it's quite painful to see you east coasters go from order to delivery in less time than mine spent on the ship!

Wow! You could always order it from an East coast dealer and road trip it home

To answer the question, there is no exact formula unfortunately. I paid my deposit/placed my order on 1/18, took my car home on 2/16 which apparently is completely unheard of.

I originally bought my 2004 MCS in Orlando, Florida. Last year, after living a short while in Nashville, I moved to San Jose, California and drove my Mini. It was GREAT fun. I highly recommend it.

that's what i'm doing! i ordered mine from MINI of Nashville on 3/22 and it started production on 3/27 and now is awaiting a carrier to come across the pond! i'm planning on flying out to Nashville and drive it back -- on as many windy roads as possible -- to Seattle in May sometime. taking lots of pics along the way, of course!
