Where to get Chili Red mirror covers?

I called the dealer and they said that Mini doesn't sell Chili Red mirror covers for my '05 MCS. That seems a little strange to me because some cars come with red mirrors? Is that true and if so Where can I get them?

That doesn't seem correct at all I guess if it turns out to be true, you could always have your current ones, or someones used ones painted.

My friend, who owns Central Coast Coopers and a body shop, told me they don't take paint very well.

huh? They are painted to begin with....you would just have to remove the old paint, re-prime and paint again. I dont know what your friend is talking about.

MINI doesnt sell chili red mirrors.....they can sell you primered mirrors that are ready to paint though. They just dont carry pre-painted mirrors it sounds like

Check eBay. I got a set of new Hot Orange mirror caps there for $20 from someone who replaced them with checkered ones the day they bought their MINI.

I have a brand new set that I took off my 06 and replaced with CF. They were used for about 50 miles.

PM me if you are interested in buying them. I have no idea what a fair price is.

It does seem strange that the MINI dealer doesn't stock them. I bought chrome ones from our dealer, for our black car.

He brings up a good point.....sometimes the dealers around your area will have leftovers from chrome/checker/flag mirror installs when the owner doesnt ask for the old mirrors back.

also....www.outmotoring.com sells primered caps if your dealer still says they cant order them and you want to have some painted

Good luck on finding them, they are rare finds. i looked for over a year. i have seen them on ebay sell for over $150 bucks. I bought some matching chili red paint from auto paint supply house and painted them myself. plus i had enough to do my intercooler cover red.

So that was your car.
I think I got a shot of it entering the parking structure at Palace Station last weekend. The red mirrors really stand out. Nice job of painting them.
