R56 Does anyone know where I might find
Does anyone know where I might find
Does anyone know where I might find a forum of R56 entheusiasts?
I deleted the rest of this. But after reading some of the posts I missed while I was away I just got upset and briefly wrote exactly what I felt.
I only wish thougth that the makeup here consisted primarily of people who like or are interested in the 2007 Mini Cooper.

I think the reason many non-R56 owners are here is because 1) many of us are fairly certain there will be one in our future one of these days and 2) discussion of the R56 dates way back to when the potential of a redesign was first made known. From test mules and spy shots to the Paris Auto Show to press jaunts aqnd every single review they spawned, lots of overall, generic MINI enthusiasts have tracked the entire R56 rollout-thing down to the last minute detail. Since it is new in the market, we're still in the discovery phase, so to speak.
I do feel your pain though
, and we all really should consider this. If I was an R56 owner and I wanted to discuss an issue/problem, my elation w/ the car, potential mods, or options/colors...I would be disturbed if my query met with the odd unsolicited barb or jab seemingly out of nowhere. This does seem unfair. Even more unfair is the fact that R56 unfortunately refers to MCS and Coopers...there is no distinction here on NAM as has developed on the first generation car. In time, no doubt, it will.
I do think there is too much interest in the car to expect only R56 owners to be interested. However I would hope that honest, helpful discussions can be left alone whenever possible. It's the least we can do for new R56 owners. I further recommend that derogatory jibes toward the previous generation MINI be minimized and visa versa. I also hope for world peace.
I do really think the NAM community will "get it" soon enough...R56 is an earthquake and we need some time to adjust to the transition and to the new wave of enthusiasts.
My opinion....

Why do people think it's unusual for R50/53 owners to read the threads on the R56 forums ?
Personally, I never go to forums to read threads. I simply click on "new posts" and read whatever threads/posts seem interesting. And yes, some of the R56 topics seem interesting to me. Hope that's okay.

Ken, the MINI community is experiencing growing pains. Don't think that all of us dislike the R56...that simply is not true. There are a few very outspoken folks who are not accepting the changes too well.
It is a good idea to not post in anger or when emotions are running high. I often recommend folks take a break from their keyboard and come back fresh rather than post when upset. Time has a way of mellowing things out.

I believe that everyone basicly here on NAM is a good person.
And even negative remarks by some people pertaining to the R56 should be taken with a grain of salt.
As most people are not fans of change, i believe it is an initial reaction to poo poo something new.
And with time like all things people adjust to new things and i am sure down the line when the next generation NEW generation hits the streets we will find ourselves in the same situation.

EENY. Do you have any spyshots
I would kill to see them because the R65 probably won't be out til 2020
OK I know it was a typo but I am feeling silly today
Ken, please do not despair.
I had an R53 and I had the "gall" to mod it and decorate it and custom paint it in a way that was "NOT acceptable" to some of these snobby N.A.M. members. And that was with a "53!"
Some of those here, cannot "get over" their own opinions, expectations, close-mindedness, about how a MINI should look, be driven, even named.
I am on my next MINI, a Hot Orange Vert, and I know someday, unless I am able to justify keeping it forever, I will be driving the latest iteration of BMW's MINI. I think most of us will be.
And I will love it.
Because as different from the R53 as it is, there is NOTHING else on the road like it!!

Reason: Too flamable.
If it is an out spoken minority make some use of the ignore list and utilize the forum view and collapse the 1st gen forum, and you should basically accomplish the same thing, but when you filter out that much you may find NAM begins to lack quite a bit. Now I don't know what you originally said or even what promted it. And even more so I'm an R53 fan; if you're still listening, but you know what the car doesn't make the people!
Have a nice
I liked your typo! So glad you're keeping it here just to confound the masses of MINIists.
Back on-topic: Enthusiasts are very passionate and, as such, sometimes go "just" a "tad" overboard in these forums. But that is what keeps the place so interesting!
I think once the R56s have been out and about for a while, things will settle down. Then will resume the friendly, supportive vibe most of us recognize as being the very epitome of MINI.
I'd like to remind everyone that this is the Coupe Talk (2007+) forum. Rather than dog those getting their new R56s, please let them have their great moment of MINI-bliss as they get their new babies and learn all about them.
If you aren't a fan of the R56, so be it. But get over it, already. Like I said in a different flame-athon thread, we all have MINIs, so let's motor!

Some more can be seen in the November MC2 Magazine.
Like I said, I got flack from the "N.A.M. Snobs" for those mods, and that was an R53......to which I say, "Get a life, and this time around, ask for an 'open mind'."
