How to remove the ECU

I'm going to get a LDG flash and will have to remove the ECU to send it to them. Has anybody removed the ECU? How do you do it. I'll have a Unichip for sale cheap next week.

Hey Roach,

It was nice to see you at R.A.

If you don't get an answer here, I'd just call LDG and ask John. He's exceptionally helpful.

Pull off the cap over the top of it (it is directly to the right of the air box)

Next, there are small "T" shaped pulls underneath the connectors on the ECU wiring. Pull the one towards the front of the car toward you, while gently pulling the connector up. Do the same with the rear, but push the T toward the firewall while lifting up.

Now that the connectors are free, you will see 2 tabs that hold the ecu in place, just push them back away from the ecu while pulling the ecu upward.

Installation is the reverse, however just make sure the tabs align when you put it back in or otherwise when you pull the wiring on the ecu again, it will lift the ecu not pull the wiring connector out.

Be sure to give us some feedback on the LDG flash in comparison to Unichip. I've almost decided to do the same as you (possibly another Unichip up for sale in the future...)

Thanks!
