What are the best mods on top of JCW?

I just got an 04 MCS with the JCW kit. I was looking to give it a little more punch and was wondering what are the best mods that I can do to my MCS that give the most bang for the buck?

I've seen a couple with the Alta v2.0 Intake, 17% pulley, 380cc JCW Injectors, & GIAC Software. Any opinons will be greatly appreciated.

A new head followed by headers. Anything else is a waste of time.

+1 Put a head on it - you got everything else you need.

hey i just got an 04 JCW MCS also! and i LOVE it! do you love yours? i'm actually pretty satisfied w/ it as is. i just put on an m7 strut tower brace. i don't plan on any additional power mods, but if i do i'd probably just save up for the jcw injectors and the jcw intake. g'luck!

I actually do love it! I have already taken it on some mountain roads and it is very, very impressive. I wanted to give it a little extra hp so that I can beat out my neighbor's JCW MCS

I definately would not agree with the last sentence above. True, a head and header would be a great exchange for what JCW supplied, which is also a notch (though little) above the stock MCS head.

But clearly there are plently of other mods that are well worth the bucks involved and are definately NOT a waste of time or $$$$.

There are several MCS parts vendors out there that I have confidence in. Yes, they are tryin g to sell parts but the MCS community here at NAM is rather a small one that spreads the good, the bad, and the ugly around pretty quick.

I appreciate your feedback; but can you recommend certain mods that would be good for what I'm looking for?

Non-runflat tires
Lighter wheels
Engine Damper
Rear anti-sway bar - bigger
Wegner/Thumper/Fireballed!/(some other guys that we don't mention...cam too?) head
Stahl/JCM/Larini header...if you go Stahl, go with the whole exhaust system...
TCE brake kit...lighter rotational mass
Coilovers...after your warranty runs out on jour JCW suspension...

Good luck!

Such as for performance? I suggest you read this https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ight=bang+buck as its been discussed many times. Adding headers now will not get the same gains as doing it after a new head (and then new sw).

OM asked for engine performance. This is all other stuff except for the headers.

And if your looking for better engine performance or acceleration, a lightweight flywheel is going to help far more than coilovers

Let me know if you want to go with aftermarket performance head. I would like to buy your JCW head and send you my MCS head plus some $$. You can use the MCS head as your core change and $$ toward your new head.

Actually, the deal is open for any JCW that would like to go for aftermarket head. Especially, one lives in mid atlantic.. Let me know...let me know...Let's make a deal.

bolt a head on the JCW - I'd expect 15-20whp and 5-10lb ft torque increase across the board.

Seeing how a JCW already comes with most of the aftermarket hoopla stock - you aren't goint to find a hell of a lot else for the price.

Sorry sir! Any data on that lightweight flywheel helping you're 0-60 time? No data on the flywheel?...maybe it does help you get around the road/track faster...kinda like the coilovers...which I have no data on btw ..but now we're just getting technical

Who said anything about raising the CR? Unless it has been milled, you shouldnt be touching the CR...

Also have 04 S. In addition to what you have , I have added and feel's gain's with the addition of Header, and exhaust, Iridium plug's and plug wires. Simple mod to improve ride and stablity were 22 Alta sway @ the rear and Mini Mania carbon fiber strut brace front. Cant't say enough for the struct brace , as it Really did a lot to improve ride to my surprise!
Engine is nothing more than a pump, improve "in and Improve out" = improve power! You have improved In , now improve the out. Later , but far more expensive would be head's . With these mod's expect possible CEL flashes as high speed driving will tend esp free flow cat show a lean mixture. You may not get however as you have JCW injector's, but if you do easy to rectify with 0-2 elect. sim. Have enjoyed this setup from almost the beginning for 48,000miles with no problem's. and plenty of smiles.

I was agreeing more with the last statement. I have no idea what the compression ratios are. You might ask e to the l

depends on who does your heads - if they mill them compression should increase because you removed volume from the combustion chambe. If the open up the bowl a lot compression will decrease because you have increased combustion volume.
