Dumb question - why's that light flashing?

And the top's not retracting?

I'll apologize in advance, I've had my 2007 MCS cabrio for a couple of weeks now, and I haven't thoroughly read the manual; but the paragraph I saw on opening the top didn't prepare me for what I'm finding... (and no, I haven't called the dealer; I'm relying upon you good people, because you offer far better information!)

The sunroof function works fine, but when I depress the open button for the second time, the LED on the close button begins to flash. I'm doing this at a stop, with the car in neutral and my foot on the brake. Do I need the emergency brake on or something to convince the car it isn't moving?

Thanks in advance for your tutelage!

Regards,
Mark Gibson

You probably have the rear partical shelf out of place. Make sure it is completely seated against the micro switch on the left side of the trunk. You will see a little foot on the shelf that rests on the switch. That is probably your problem.

I second that diagnosis. Just unlatch and relatch the side levers in the boot. That should do the trick.

I second that second...open and reclose both latches - even if they look closed, that is the #1 cause for the flashy light.

Do it quick! Don't put up with another minute of top-up motoring!!!

Thanks Folks! That did it... the package tray hadn't dropped down to 'make' the switch.

They need to advise you of that when you pick up the car
The first time it happens i think we all freak out

I'm glad I wasn't alone! Although when I picked up my car is was 20 degrees and snowing (great for a 150 mile drive with a new car!)

The key bit of information on this thread is the exact location of the switch - left side just under the "foot" of the shelf. We have been taking the hockey bag to practice [yes, it fits if you have the JR hockey bag] and it knocks the foot off the switch. Thanks a million! I didn't want to call the dealer

Another Flashing Light

I just bought a 2006 S Cabrio last night. I have a light on, but it is the bonnet/trunk light on the dash. Would this be a similar fix? all seems tight...

Thanks for any info.

Congrats on joining the faimly

Check to make sure your boot is closed. If you have been under the bonnet lately, it might be that too. Check both just to be sure.

If I don't close my boot with enough force, it latches shut, but still triggers the open boot light.
