Does anhyone know a dealer in California (or close by) selling 07's at list price without mark up or dealer "ad ons" like paint protection, alarm and other nonsense?

Yup, so far as I know that's the only one in the Bay Area not adding a markup. I found this out by my MA just as I was putting in my order - and getting charged the markup. I paid it, resented it, but couldn't but respect their honesty disclosing the various markups being charged to me.

I am referred to Crevier Mini by NAM members so I called and the MA promised on the phone to let me order the S at MSRP. I made an appointment with him this Saturday to come in and place my order. I hope that the process will go smoothly and there will be no game played from the dealership.

Did you get MSRP for an ordered 07 or some car off the lot?

You can always come to Portland and then by the time you drive it home it would be broke in already! Always MSRP at Rasmussen MINI

I think Concord doesn't charge over now, and Mountain View technically still does.

The word I got (hope I don't get in trouble here ) was that Mtn View you could get at MSRP if you tried a bit. Essentially the wait time is short, they found out Concord doesn't charge over MSRP anymore, and if you told the guy you were gonna order from another dealership, Mtn View would sell it to you at MSRP.

Now, this thread will probably cost them thousands of dollars in profit. I feel like kinda an ***, but I'm just relaying what I was told when I asked.

There has to be a breaking point - charging over MSRP when it really doesn't buy you anything can't last forever.

And I agree about the long memories. Getting charged extra sure didn't buy me any allegiance - just the opposite.

Wow, I'm amazed mini of Concord will sell at MSRP. Last time I looked round there, they were still asking for around $2k over MSRP for 2006s!

I bought mine from Brecht Mini in Escondido, CA at MSRP without any of the other markup items like specil wax job etc. The good news is that the dealer did a fine job on the sale, the bad news is that I've gotten to know their service department really well. A great bunch but I'd rather not have become so intimate this early in my ownership experience.

If you are thinking about buying an 07 you might want to wait until they've worked out the bugs.

Well, maybe I should clarify.

The Mountain View guy told me that Concord was no longer charging over MSRP, and that was part of the reason they were being flexible. I didn't ever confirm with Concord. Maybe he was referring to SF Mini and got it wrong?

The only "fact" I have is that he said MSRP at mountain view is do able, mostly to better compete with East Bay and another dealership that no longer charges over MSRP.

Bought mine 06' through Russ at South Bay MINI, MSRP and I got some goodies to boot. In addition to my MA, both Amanda and Chris are great to work with.

East Bay Mini, Mini of Mt. View....

Just ordered my 2007 from Mini of Mountain View with NO dealer mark up.

Note: This is my first purchase with M of MV however I have always taken my '02 & '04 MC to them for service so this is probably why I got a "deal".
They did tell me however they do "negotiate" on the $1K for MC & $1.5K for MCS.

East Bay Mini has never had a mark up and I've heard Criever and Long Beach in L.A. don't either.

P.S.
Does my sig pic show?

iDriveguy: It does not. Try removing the "/" from the first set.

Pickup my '07 MCS two weeks ago. Just a tad less than MSRP (after new 6 BMWs in 7 years.) Since people are paying OVER or AT MSRP, I am extremely happy with my deal.

234 miles on odometer as of today.

I would be happy to post the information once the dealer determines what caused the problem. I don't expect to get the car back until sometime next week. Also, I'm not a techie so show some patience with me.

OK, I got the car back today and here's what they had to say:

Customer reports that engine light is on
Cause: Software program
Correction: Run short test, DME 278A.. fuel mixture adaptation, performed fuel pressure test, check for restriction in intake and checked ethanol content in fuel.. all OK. Clear fault memory, reset adaptations, test drive, OK.

I hope this is useful.
