Dragon Jam this year?
This will be our first MOTD, so what exactly is a Dragon Jam?
It was a small band put on by the Off Topic Band after the Farewell dinner on Saturday night. The band consisted of anyone who wanted to play or sing and was quite good.
And a way to relax after a fun day of driving. It was also a way to raise money to help the Tipitina fund that is setup to help displaced musicians of New Orleans. I'm not sure if that will be the same charity this year if a Dragon Jam occurs.
Looking back at last years Dragon forum. I just noticed Clover said they would be back this year.

Off Topic Band Dragon Jam Wrap-Up
Well, I had a rough summer and fall (deaths in the family and my own poor health), so I have had to limit my obligations to MOTD this year. I am helping organize the 4th Annual Midnight on the Dragon Run and the 3rd Annual Cigar Sampling Salon.
I would just love it if someone could pick it up and organize the Second Annual Off Topic Band Dragon Jam event. I'm just not sure when the best time for it would be. I suppose it could be "On the Porch" again, during the Brew Swap on Friday night. It was really fun to gather and play music on the porch.
Anyone interested in putting it together? I request that any donations collected (we passed the hat last year and collected about $300) again go to The Tipitina Fund in New Orleans, which supports the musicians that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina, as well as providing music lessons for children in NOLA.

I wish I could think of some but I'm not very good at that kind of thing.
My intentions weren't to make plans, Jeff. Only to find out if it was happening again this year.

That said, y'all all more than welcome to join us at the Cigar Sampling Salon on the Porch after the Welcome Dinner. Your music is so very welcome as well, and its soothing notes give us all a chance to wind down after a long day's drive to Fontana.
Fiddles would be VERY welcome! As it will be blended with the Cigar Salon, I think acoustic is probably a better idea. What do others think?
Hey, howbout The Dragon Jam Marching Band?

I vote to keep it as unplugged as possible, since most people end up bringing acoustic stuff. A bit of amping is good though. No Marshall stacks needed, though Chrisneal's cigaret pack amp was running at 11 and still getting drowned out.
The porch was a great place to play. Informal, approachable, roomy and so right for the area IMO.

A djembe would be great. There was no shortage of exotic percussion instruments, in fact they were the majority of what was brought along. Anyone can bang out a beat, just look at that fuzzface in the last photo for proof.
