Panoramic Photo?

Has anyone talked to the photographer about doing the panoramic photo again this year?

We've been speaking to another photographer about providing photography services for the event. I'll be able to get more information after I get registration open. Registration will be up and available by Sunday night (March 4th). Thanks!

Why wouldn't you ask all the MINI drivers to take photos? I will take photos of the event. We'll all be there for the event. We just need a camera. I am not a photographer, but I do believe that through all the MINI enthuzi's we could get great pictures. Possible some we are not supposed to see. The folks who took the pictures for the calendar seem to have captured some cool shots. see ya at MOTD

I had a feeling that would come

I wouldn't have a problem with it except that I won't know for sure that I will actually be attending until pretty much last minute. I am hoping to help out next year for sure though!!

After what happened last year, I had a feeling one of the brilliant, talented organizers would have already thougt of it

You should definitely attend the Brew Swap and take photos of the Beerlympics and all the beer.

Anybody asked Daryl Cannon (aka Killboy.com)? I bet they'd take the picture? He's a great guy - they take great photos!

That's a good idea, but of course it hinges on whether Daryl owns a panoramic camera to begin with!

He took this photo last year: (I'm not sure, but I think technically David Spotts did this one) Also, I think it was done w/ some software as well.

FYI on the photographer.

I headed it up last year, but not this year seeing as how I wasn't going, and now that status has changed to 'maybe'.

The photographer would like to do it, but has some requirements, seeing as how there were complications last year. DCMM hosted the event last year, and worked it out. This year DCMM is pretty much riding the Dragon just like everyone else. A volunteer has come forward (months and months ago) to organize this... There are issues remaining to be dealt with, and I'm pretty sure thats why the person has not yet posted here.

So yes, George Pearle, the photographer who's done the event 2 years in a row, is ready and fairly willing to come out and take care of us if his requirements are met. The volunteer already has all the info and contact information for the Tennesee Valley Authority to get it done, so all those ducks are in a row.

I guess we just wait and see if it firms up, falls apart, or if NAM provides one this year.

It's no easy task...having been in the 1st, and having watched the set up for the 2nd from atop the dam last year. It is no mean feat to line up hundreds of cars and photograph them.
I hope they do it again this year, tho'.....it's fun to watch everyone scurrying around.

If it's a new photographer, it probably won't go as well. Last year went pretty smoothly imho, as the photographer had lots of experience from the first year, a good plan, and approval from TVA for marking & lining up cars the way he wanted to.

Panoramic photography isn't easy... Especially out in the middle of nowhere, with ever-changing weather conditions. Timing was perfect last year... After the picture, as people were handing in their complete order forms, it started to come down, where as it had just been nice and sunny. Glad I don't live in a valley.

Bucket Truck

Seems like I remember someone mentioning an issue with the bucket truck (cherry picker), is that being handled also?

I'll do more coordination and provide more information after I get some of the primary information for the overall event out of the way.

That's an awesome photo, but I don't think that technique would work so well for what we are trying to do. Stitching individual photos together later on would only look good if the entire subject held still... With all of the people and cars in the photo, it probably wouldn't turn out so well for our stuff.

Of course, no harm in asking Killboy about it anyway (if for one reason or another we don't go with Atlanta Panorama again).

Shouldn't be. After the first year, FV bought their own, and that was the one used last year.
