R50/53 fastest mini no lies!
I understand the mini has a limiter ( thoguh I have no idea what the limit is...) whats the fastest you all have been in the stock car... remember to tell us what type of car it is. I'd like to know what the top speed at least could be for the cooper cvt... but others feel welcome to tell us what you top speed is.
125mph
Stock MC 5 speed
Not too fast but spirited!

can you take the limiter off and tehn back on? Just once I'd like to just take the car all the way to the top speed on a track or really straight road.. not to drag race jstu to do it!...

Figure out how to do that, and you'll be a rich man (cash only, of course - wink, wink!).

No i'm really responisble.. it would sticitly be a one time deal... I have no need to ever go about 100 really.. i'd just like to do it.. once in my own car.. I've thought about going out and taking f-1 racign lessons.. I've never been that fast I woudl jsut liek to once do it.. maybe find a track that lets people on it for a small fee or find an old airstrip.. you know.. cool.. I'm having the ecu programed today after work.. seems that I have some sort of hesitation lurching problems in the lower rpms.. Thank for you r concern.. I think street racers are nutz.. cool cars sort of the new muscle car fanatcis of the 60's but I persoanlly do not spee dliek that.. though tonce when I was in college I took my 1980's honda civic 4 door with a passenger up to 125... scared the **** out of me it was shaking so bad...
well, I think it's safe for me to admit as long as I don't state in which state I did this: on my recent road trip, I tried to test the top speed in my 03 MCS, stock, all sports package options but with 16" V-spokes.
I got up to an indicated 134 mph and could have gained some more but ran out of smooth enough road to feel comfortable. However, I just calibrated my speedo and it appears to be almost 10% high, so an indicated 134 mph would be an actual 120 mph. The car was still pulling, but very slowly, in 6th gear. Pulling was slow most likely because this was done at an elevation of more than 6000 feet above sea level. Dry day but overcast, ambient temps were about 55 degrees f.
The car felt quite steady, but the road was getting rough and that made me nervous enough to slow done. This was a 2 lane road, with excellent long range visibility, no traffic and no animals in sight, otherwise I woudl not have done this (and no cops either, and luckily no plane spotted me).

oh, and re: the limiter: the MCS is limited to 135 mph.
However, if the limiter works off the speedo which over-reads by 10%, this corresponds to an effective limit of about 121 - 122 mph for the MCS.
Based on hp numbers, the car should be able to go faster. I think the limiter is put in there for 2 reasons: a) tire choice: with a higher speed limit, MINI would have to supply teh car with tires that have a higher speed rating, which would up the price, and b) this might affect insurance rates in some regions.

If its going to hurt the car too much then no way... I just figured if it could handle it... what is the projected top speed possibilty, hell I'd just like to know that?... 150+.. thats where the speedo goes..?.. I'm all about safety, i'll be teh first to jump down thos epoeple that put projectiles on there airbags... that was stupid thing I did in college.. beleive me. I'mjsu tcuriosu to knwo the speed.. soemone jsut need to make a video game where I can drive it in realisic terms.. doggone it.
hello all,
i actually got to 120 mph with my mcs, but i was trying to get more. i think i would have gotten more if i didn't install my factory roof rack. i believe it is the roof rack that is generating more downforce than the car could handle at high speed (since downforce/drag is a function of velocity).
to test this, i might take my roof racks off and try again.

I'm a little wimpier than some. I just managed 102 MPH on a remote stretch of highway in Nebraska where I could see forever and ever. When I really want to test it, I'll go to my northern neighbors in Wyoming. Stock MCS.
I've drove 124MPH for over 10 miles once...coming back from Austin,tx up to Dallas...the car drives fine, could of been alittle more smooth compared to other cars I have driven at higher than 110MPH...It did take me ~2+ mins from 65MPH to get up to top speed, and the only thing that pushed it to the point was going down a hill...After it hit top speed it kept it pretty well until I let off the gas then it SHOT down rather quickly which I didnt like...
Edit: This was in an 03 MC 5sp...stock..with me (170lbs), my buddy (185lbs) a full bag of lacrosse gear (25lbs) and two duffle bags with 3 days worth of clothes (15lbs) and a half tank of gas....so im thinking on a diet I could of hit the 124 mark alittle faster than 2 mins...
