MINI problems - HELP please

Hi NAM readers,

My '04 MCS is at 42k and still covered under 50k warranty.

I have some problems on my MCS - I'll bring it to the MINI dealer next weekend - but I just need some clarity from NAM readers.

1. When I started my enginee, then I turn my steering wheels left and right, it makes noise - what's wrong with that?

2. Before i start the engine, the speedometer tells me that my miles inspection is (minus)-5400 - what's that mean? how do i turn it to zero?

3. I don't think my MINI went through MINI Inspection I and II - does that covered under 30k/50k warranty?

4. is alignment covered under 50K warranty?

5. 50k warranty means maintenance - is that mean if there is something wrong with my MINI it will be covered?

Thanks much for answering these questions.

I take it the car is new to you?

1. Electric power steering pump whine. Pefectly normal.
2. It means that it's 5,400 miles overdue for oil change/inspection. This can be reset by the dealer at service, or by you - details are here on NAM. Given the extended oil service regimen, get thy oil changed pronto!
3. 36K maintenance agreement/50K warranty. Service is only covered prior to 36K miles. After that only warranty repairs are covered unless an extended service warranty was purchased.
4. No
5. No -see 3. above.
