New brakes, rotors needed

Hello Everyone:

This is my first post on this website. Your feedback regarding my question on brakes greatly appreciated.

I bought my 04 Mini Cooper S second hand last year and I absolutely love the car. I have about 43K miles on the car and I took the car to the dealer due to another issue. I mentioned to the service person that I was hearing a grinding noise on the rear axle. They checked it out and said I need new brakes front and back. They offered me 4 new brakes, 4 new rotors, and sensors for $940. I went to a local garage and they offered me new rotors and pads installed for $776. The parts are not by Mini. I asked if i supplied the parts how much the installation would be and they said $180.

I only do street driving and I do not race the car at all. I don't know if this is possible, but ideally I would like to spend about $320 on the OEM rotors and pads. If I have to spend more then going aftermarket with better street performance is also an option.

What manufacturers and vendors do you recommend?

Thank You!
Michael

basic brake rotors and pads are available and you certainly can purchase them and have someone install them.

Vendors to check-
Outmotoring.com
Helix13.com
Webbmotorsports.com
Minimania.com
Detroittunned.com

Basic stock rotors will work or Brembo rotors
Mintex Redbox pads front and rear are OK and cheap or
EBC green pads are OK but twice as expensive and much less brake dust.

You can contact any of the vendors for advice.
