Lambo Doors on a MINI

I have a 2002 Electric Blue Mini Cooper S and I want to put lambo doors on it. Has any one done this Modification yet? Can anyone help me out? Point me in the direction of a kit made for a MINI?
thanks!
Justin

I think they will be changing the name of these type of doors to the car on which the majority are now residing. Behold the new HONDA door

pleaaaase at least don't do the standard lambo doors. Find something a little different if you really want to do it. Find doors that rotate over 130 degree's or have a helix in them...just something a bit different. One day somebody will design brackets that allow the dual helix motion of the koenigsegg - that thing is so awesome to watch open.

Someone already makes the kit.

Its ungodly expensive and requires 12 inches of free space on the inside of the dash (good luck on most cars)

The LSD kit seems to be the nicest for the MINI, but really any kit will work, because its not going to be bolt on. No matter what kit you get you will have to weld or drill new holes and bolt it on.

To each his own but I can't stomach seeing another Lambro door car! They were cool the first few times I saw them but they are a dime a dozen in around here like spinner wheels were last year. Every wannabe playa K-Fed lookalike has them.

How often do you see a Mini cooper With lambo doors....? I disagree with that statement and if K-Fed has a Mini cooper than rock on... Hes awsome....

Huh? "Find somwething different"? Personally, I've NEVER seen this modification on a MINI, shy of the screenshots on the LSD Doors site: http://www.lsd-doors.com/

I'd argue that the people posting in here that say that this MOD is a "dime a dozen" must be terribly jaded. Unless you plan to frequent Hot Import Nights or "tuner" events, I guarantee you that this MOD will turn quite a few heads (mine included) at any MINI-centric event. That's why I personally plan to do this MOD to my own car (a hot orange 2006 cabrio) just as soon as I buy out my lease. Obviously, people feel strongly about this MOD (as the other thread shows), so expect some controversy if you do it... Personally, my feeling is that I'll listen to people ragging on my MOD decisions when they also help me make my monthly payments.

NOTE: the lambo-doors MOD is in no way reversable (parts of the bodywork must be trimmed down to accomodate the opening mechanisim), so only cinsider doing this if you're 100% certain that you want this on your car for all time. Also, unless you're a professional bodywork guy, getting pro installation assistance is also highly recommended, since you'll need to grind off parts like the OEM hinge supports.

I'd also like to point out that the OP did not ask for aesthetic opinions - he merely wanted to know if anyone had done the install and if a kit were made for the MINI. The answer it "yes" to both questions, and I hear nothing but good things about the LSD kits. According to their web site, their products have passed rigorous European safety tests, if that's a concern (as it should be). Posting a pic of a person puking is (IMHO) not only disrespectful of the OP's taste, but is also gross and vulger. Bad form...

If I wanted to read those kinds of posts, I'd log into a Scion or Honda tuner site... The kids there usually have no taste or manners, so that kind of behavior isn't as repellent there.

Apologies for my lack of taste - this is a forum free for all to voice their opinion. I never made any comment against doing something funky with the doors, just us mini owners like to be a little different and keep it classy, I merely suggested chasing after something a little different than all the other cars out there with Lambo doors. Do what you like mate and get a whole lot of pleasure out of the result. I'll keep my bad taste to my desk in design at Oakley.

all in all I think we can all agree on one thing. Mini coopers Rule, always have and always will.. We all take so much pride in our Mini's that thinking of another persons personal opinion or questioning of a mod they dont necessarly care for just seems retarded but everyone is different so thats where we meet diversity.
