I've been looking for one of these air compressor/slime kits that someone mentioned they sell at harbor freight, but I can't seem to find one. Can someone point me in the right direction?

 

Haven't seen them at HF, but I bought this one from tirerack.

 

I carry a can of slime from Walmart ($4, make sure to keep it in a ziplock bag) and this lighter powered compressor from Harbor Freight that I got for $5 with one of their email coupons. Both fit in behind the tail light access panels in the boot, along with a set of compact jumper cables.

 

I went with a $20 compressor from Sears and a Dynaplug kit. Only odd thing is the gauge on the compressor which is in kPa, not PSI. So, if you go this route, make sure you have a standard tire gauge or know the conversion.

I think that is the route I'm going to go. How did you keep the stuff in the trunk from flying about behind those access panels?

 

They are wedged in pretty tight. There's not much room back there. I have the jumper leads and the slime on 1 side and the pump on the other side. If it was loose, I would attach some velcro probably, but it's not been an issue for me in the year since I got rid of the runflats.

I love the continental kit, but it seems like its a bit expensive for what it is. The harbor Freight, slime combo should be the way to go.

 

I've been warned against using Slime. It ruins the tire, I have been told. So I bought a spare tire, which I have on the folded seat in my 02 MCS. Since this takes up a lot of room, I gnash my teeth every time I look at it, plus the jack and small air compressor I now need to carry. This is a small car. So, what do the rest of you do? I drive back roads. I also find myself in places where calling AAA is not an option.
So what are the options here? BTW, I'm not looking for smart answers, but real help. the last time I posted here about mice eating the wires beneath my bonnet, I was told to get a cat. Might be funny over a couple of beers, but not funny at all when asking for a serious answer.
