Hey,
On may way to a doctors appointment this morning, I was stopped in traffic after about five or so minutes I came up to the problem. It was a wreck. It was some moron in an SUV, that had hit a maroon MC. The whole back of the cooper was bent in. The trunk, and rear bumber were a mess, I am so sad, I have never had to see an injured MINI before, exept for just pictures. I think the guy was okay (hopefully).

Hopefully everyone is okay! I actually have yet to see a picture of a wrecked MINI where the passenger cabin hasn't maintained its shape excellently, except for that ridiculous accident in Mexico City that the pictures were posted of last week.

That is sad. Hopefully it was no one we know from MCO. Since you've brought it up though, what else can you say about the circumstances? Does it look like the MC was rear-ended while stopped at a light, or was it a sudden stop kind of thing? My personal curiosity stems from a continuing fear of being nailed by someone (particularly in a honkin' big SUV) who can't see my little car.

When I was hit the cab was maintained. I did have a concussion though...Why do people in huge vehicles such as vans and SUVs have to hit our precious cars?

I was on a highway, and the traffic was still moving slowly, and to me it looked like the traffic in front of the MC was moving, and suddenly stopped, and when the MC stopped, the SUV rear ended him. I'm guessing (don't get mad) since it was a FORD, it was some moron on his/her cell phone, and not paying any attention. That is all of the info that I have, since I was just driving by it.

That info helps. It sounds like a sudden stop situation and the SUV driver didn't couldn't react fast enough. You're probably right, they were likely on the phone (or applying makeup, shaving, cooking breakfast, having sex, reading, potting plants, brushing their teeth, etc.). Although, no need to dump on Fords here. The lady that almost ran me off the interstate yesterday (swerving into my far left lane as we were both doing nearly 90) was on the phone and driving a Mitsubishi SUV thing. She cut back to her lane, and I was very happy that I didn't witness a rollover.

Ford's and GM's.... especially if the car or truck is over ten years old and the guy driving has a mullet that has out grown his brain.... I've noticed that 50% of the people who cut me off are in Cavaliers and Slowmaros and the other 50% are in Crapstangs and Explorers...

The best accident is the one you prevent or don't get into (this is what I tell my 16 year old daugther I am teaching to drive- No not in my MCS, silly). You can't control anyone else except yourself. If you drive defensively and give yourself plenty of space then you will have the chance/option to slow yourself gently which will force those in back of you to do the same- hopefully they are not sleeping as they drive. If you are also distracted by using a cell phone or doing other things then it makes things more dicey-for everyone around you. Minis are easy to manuever and stop but big SUVs are not and they will do damage. I hope all parties are OK. Cars can be repaired or replaced but people's health are what counts. The Mini is a safe vehicle- drive with Aloha

My other car is a F-150, I haven't been in an accident or gotten a speeding ticket in 21 years. I don't talk on the phone or jerk off either while driving my MCS or my truck so I would appreciate it if you would back off on the insults, please.

It's cool, I get alittle out of shape every now and then when stereotypical statements are slung about. I think that there is a place for all of the cars on our roads and that big or small we all need to learn to embrace our differences and live and love and be one with nature. Then when we all have learned these little lessons in life we'll super glue the locks on every idiots' car who can't learn to drive responsibly!!

Seriously...there is no need to bash Fords. My fiance drives a new Focus ZTS and it's actually a really nice car. I had never been in one before his and I really like it. It's not my personal cup of tea, but then again the MINI isn't everyone's personal cup of tea either.

Although I do agree with Banky about the mullet thing though.
Guys with mullets give American cars a bad name....you'd never catch a hick in anything European.

Let's quit picking on Fords, and every other car that is not a MINI! Car type does not cause accidents, drivers do! It's like people starting to say all accidents are now our fault because our cars are too small!? Doesn't make much sense does it?

Anyhow Super, did the MC have a white top? Our friend on MCO (and in person - same city) RKMaroon has white top on his MINI. As much as I really hope it wasn't him, I am terribly sorry for whomever this happened to.

RK - are you ok???

I think it was a black top, and all that I can really remember, is that it had the chrome bumpers, if that helps at all. I didn't have a lot of time to look, I was trying not to wreck mine, and traffic was moving.

Im sorry (and no disrespect to your boyfriend) but the Focus is really ugly. There is nothing visually appealing about that car. In fact at the MINI training meeting, the video they showed went out of its way to make fun of the Focus and the Beetle. They said in the video "If you drive a focus, well maybe it says..you couldnt afford anything but a focus" everyone in the room started clapping. lol.

well, i wasn't really refering to hicks in general, i was just venting about the jags who don't realize that their '88 5.0 isn't really all that fast... there's a guy in an old IROC down the block from my house that goes out of his way to **** me off and bad mouth my car... well, yesterday i put a couple of car lengths between his P.O.S. and my Mini... doesn't help that his car is 15 years old and burning 5 liters of oil a day...

Just what's with the MINI ad campaigns and apparently training material making fun of all the other cars and SUVs out there? It just seems.. jerky, somehow.
