Happy 4th birthday to JoeGreen
Happy 4th birthday to JoeGreen
[SIZE=2]Yesterday was the 4th anniversary of the day JoeGreen, a 2003 Silk Green/Black MC, came to live with me. After his birth in Oxford on 10 Jan he travelled on the Aida to NJ and via truck to Patrick MINI in Schaumburg where Kevin McC and I exchanged $$ and keys making JoeG my MINI! We immediately took off for a trip to the twisties near Galena, never mind the winter weather.
Since then we’ve been in 30 states and 3 provinces over interstates, blue highways, gravel, mud and snow. Right now the odometer says 88696 and he is 1000 mi from another Inspection II. He has a long list of favorite roads that include the Dragon in ’04 and ’06, the F1 circuit at Indy on Fan Day ’03, Route 50 in Nevada, the Oregon/NorCal Coast, riding shotgun with the Windy City Morgans in Michigan’s UP, back roads too numerous to mention, and the grandest of all - the Going to the Sun Road across the middle of Glacier Park Montana.
His maintenance issues are typical from what I’ve read on NAM over the years. In the first 5K he had a pump (can’t remember which one - LMP?) replaced. After that the power brake booster, the passenger window motor, a new PPG windshield at a little over 50K and, perhaps more unusual, a new wheel bearing hub on the driver’s side rear wheel just last month (no obvious cause for this). The OE brakes lasted to 85K and he has had regular maintenance on schedule. He has two sets of wheels; the OE set wear Blizzaks for winter and the Kazeras are awaiting new tread this year. Current mileage is 28 in town and 33+ on the highways.
Since I don’t do mechanical things, the mods and accessories are simple: a stubby antenna, white side markers, a cool shift ****, parcel shelf, boot box, magnetic grill badge holder with six flags so far, brake light mod that I did myself, a MINI Motoring Hearts medallion and a MOTD4 silver decal, a CMMC decal from year 1 and an ACTUAL SIZE decal on the back window. After a minor MVA in late ’03, he had a rear paint and chrome job by talented local collision specialists and, due to a puncture to the exhaust, I got a new model with much better sound from R-Speed. Vroooommmm,,,,vrooommmm,,,,,
So, for all of you wondering how the older ‘new’ MINIs are doing, I would say very well. I spend more time on the finish and cleaning the interior than I did with previous autos but I don’t mind. I just got another compliment yesterday on the MINI and his unusual color. I love to motor in JoeG!!!

Congratulations and Happy Birthday to JoeGreen. Curious - are there many MINIs in central Illinois? I was born in Springfield but have been gone since the early 70s. I doubt I'd recognize the place any more.
Congrats on your milestone!!! you HAVE to come up sometime and roll with CMMC again
Are you going to be at the Dragon this year?? let me know
