16x7 Panasport Wheels (Type FS16)

I want to replace my 17 r-98 web-spokes with 16x7 Panasports for the MVIV4 in March. I did the first leg of MTTS and have decided I would prefer the 16's.

For me the look says it all and of course I'm sure that the improvement in ride will be worth it. I'll keep the 17's for track days or what ever.

ASA and Minilite make a wheel in 16x7 that will work but there not quite what I want. Yes I am picky!!

I have called Panasport to ask if the JCW brakes will fit with the 16x7 wheel (type FS16) and they have not replied as yet. I also called a couple of the distributors but they had no information to share as to fitments over the JCW brakes.

In a post by WannaMini, https://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=89521 there is a picture of a MCS with Panasports and the questions are will the JCW brakes fit?

Does any one know how to contact "Dave"

I am assuming that Dave's car has JCW brakes and perhaps he painted the rears to match the fronts.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hey, Kaz, try calling Bryner at K.A.M. Specialties. He ordered mine for me direct from the importer and is an authorized dealer. He will be able to get your answer lickity split.

Thanks WannaMini I'll call them on Monday. I hope I have better luck with them than I have with the folks here on the west coast.

I've got my fingers crossed that they'll fit.

Check also with your local Mini club, perhaps there's someone there with the Panasports and you can try them on.

Kazlot,

At the One Warm Coat run last weekend there was a Liquid Yellow JCW running what looked like 16" Panasports. I was too busy with the hole in my oilpan to check to see if he was running spacers.

Shoot - I forgot to post the phone #. I hope you can find it. I won't be at work until Tuesday, and I have it written down there...

I sure hope the hole in your oil pan was not a disaster for you.

The interesting thing is I was also on the One Warm Coat run and the one yellow MCS that I saw had rims, not panasports, that I did not recognize. I was near the rear of the group and just never saw that Yellow JCW MCS.

Of all the places to be and not get a chance to talk to or at least look at that car. C'est La Vie!!!

Hadn't seen this before. That was me! Yep, 16x7 Panasports, no spacers. Been PMing kazlot today. I just looked at my car. There is about 1/2" of clearance in all directions (rim inside and back of spokes) around the *non-JCW* calipers.

As I told kazlot earlier, I'm getting the JCW brakes soon, and I'll see if I can bolt up one of the Panasports to check the fit after I do. I'm putting a set of 17" R99s on the car after the brakes are done.

It looks like they're a no-go with the JCW brakes

I had the JCW brakes installed today. I was able to get in sooner than I had originally thought, since the dealer had a kit in stock. I made the appointment, forgetting that I wouldn't be able to get my S-lites back on the car beforehand. I dropped the car off, told them that there might be fitment problems after the brakes were installed and to give me a call if they needed my bigger wheels. Well, they called and said the Panasports wouldn't fit up front. So, they left my car on the rack for the afternoon and I took the set of S-lites (with runflats) over when I picked up the car, and they put them on. My Panasports are now in storage. I've got a set of new tires for my R99s coming this week, and so I'll have new 17s this weekend. I want to see for myself where the fit problem is with the Panasports. It might just be a matter of using a 5mm spacer, which I'll be using behind my R99s anyway. I'd hate to get rid of the Panasports altogether, but if it turns out they just flat out won't fit the car with the new brakes, then, reluctantly, they will go bye-bye.

Panasports and Wilwood 12.2 TCE Kit DO NOT WORK

FYI in case anyone has an inquiry. I used 5mm spacers up front and no go, so I then put both spacers on one wheel for 10mm worth of additional clearance and one of the allen bolts on the bottom of the caliper makes contact... URGGGH. BYE BYE Panasports.
