I went with Dunlop Winter Sport M3 in 195/55/16. Only had them on a month, but so far they are very good in the dry, wet and snow. You don't give up nearly as much dry performance as with standard WS-50 Blizzaks.

The first set of snows on my previous car were WS-50 Blizzaks and they were great in the snow, but seemed very soft in the sidewall. I really couldn't wait to get the summer tires back on so that the car felt sporty again. The second set was Blizzak LM-22 performance winter tires. These are very goood and very comparable to the Dunlops I have on the MINI, but they cost more and didn't have the size I wanted.

Is it better to use 15'/16'/17' wheels for my snow tires? any differences?

I think tirerack has a guide that goes over proper sizing for winter tires. It is often recommended that you go with narrower tire for driving in snow...and you've had a lot of that in Denver this year. As far as 15/16/17, it's very common to see people drop a size from there summer wheels, but I don't think there's any rule about this. It can also be dictated by what rims you use. If you go with steel wheels, the sizes are limited. Do they even make 17' steelies? Personally, I used my stock 16's for winter wheels so I stayed with 195/55/16. I did this on my previous car also and it works great for me. Also, this way I can justify buying some nice aftermarket rims in the spring.

I'd say 15", dominos. And skinny. Especially with the winter that you guys have had!! You should already have your snows on!

I just bought a 04 MCS and already have Direzza DZ101. 205 45R 17
it's bad driving in the snow.

The Direzza shares its name with Dunlop's Japan GT Championship (JGTC) racing tires, and was developed to provide crisp and responsive handling in both wet and dry conditions, however it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing conditions, through snow or on ice.

What do you guys think?
Also, Do I need to turn off DSC when driving in snow?

thanks,
dominos

Pirelli's good!

I bought 205/45VR-17 Pirelli Winter 240 SnowSport RFT RunFlats to replace the original runflats on my 17" S-Lites. They work quite well on the snow. Much better than the all-season runflats.

I know there are some better winter tires, but I wanted the comfort of runflats when my wife was driving the car.

Ordered them from Tire Rack and used their recommended installer in Park City. Tires were shipped to the shop.

During the summer, will put on new wheels and tires--still looking for them.
