Panasports vs. Ultraleggeras...

UPDATE: PANASPORTS HAVE BEEN ORDERED!!!

So, now the question becomes - Ultraleggeras or Panasports? BTW, my budget has gone up a bit

BTW, they will be 16" wheels no matter what. Too many potholes for 17"s.

Option #1. Panasport FS16 16"

Option #2. O.Z. Ultraleggeras 16"

This is IT - this is the LAST time.......

I acquired them used. The original owner bought them from Moss Motors in 03. I lucked into them when he sold his MINI and bought a TL.

Panasports, without question, but then I'm partial, too.

I bought mine used from MyMini. They were the demos that were on the car on the website at the time. I'd have bought a new set from them anyway, though. Best price on a set of four new. Wait - not sure MyMini is selling them anymore. I just checked their site and I didn't see them listed. They DO sell some really nice new-design 16"x7" Minilites that look really sharp. A bit more modern a look than the Panasports, and about the same price.

HEY, those are some REALLY nice rims, WAIT A MINUTE, THAT's MY DSB/MCS!!!!!!

Hi WannaMini_, I put the Panasports on last summer, LOVE them, I have always liked the Panasport design, (they look great on Minis and Air Cooled VW's) plus they are a lot easier to clean I think. I bought them off of my dad after he sold his mini, he haden't yet installed them ,I think he got them from Mini Maina or Moss Mini.

In the 16" wheel, I'd go with #1... It's a classic look for our little cars and looks pretty good with high ratio rubber on it.

If you want' to bump up to a large 18" wheel with low-profile tires, I'd go with #2. It suits the more modern look of a low-profile tire.

If you are goin' with 16's and are considering Panasorts, it'd be hard not to go with them. I'd pick them (or have em painted/ powdercoated) in gunmetal if it were me.

Of those 2 it's most definitely the Panasports. Now just to confuse things a bit more for you .....have you looked at the ASA JH6? They are available from Tirerack & are a dead ringer for a Panasport for a much friendly price. My MINI happily wears a set of them.

I, too, choose #1. I bought the Minilites from Mymini last year and haven't regretted a thing. Take a look at the myminiparts.com selection- 16", 40th anniversary stamped right into the wheel, great finish, and hub centric, too. I looked at Panasports very carefully but then went with the "original".

Yep, sure did, and in fact, it was that wheel (and Konig rewinds) that sparked my interest in the retro/throwback wheels. The only thing I didn't care for with the ASAs is that they are a bit too shiny/bling for me - even just the silver paint. They are still a nice wheel however!

Of the throwbacks, the panasport is my fav...

I have Panasports on my Miata, great wheel. I really like the polished lip that they have. I have to agree the ASA's use a very shiny paint, although in person they aren't as shiny as they look in pictures. You will be happy with the Panasports, they just look Right & Proper on a MINI.

We have the 16" ASA's JH6's on my wife's 05 MCSa as well - very nice rim, VERY easy to keep clean.

I am planning on the 15" Rota RB for my 06 MCS...so my vote is the retro rim!

I agree with Crashton on all points. I've had them on my Miata for 16 years now. Yikes, I'm getting old...
