Howdy Kids,

I have been noticing something strange lately - when driving with a bit of exuberence, various lights come on briefly depending on what I am doing at the time. If I am placing my right foot down sharply to maneuver around a slow suv, the dome light comes on for a second. If I take a corner faster than most cars can, one of the warning lights on the speedo flashes on and goes off before I can figure out which one it was. I don't think I am imagining this, as my co-pilot has seen it also. Any clues?

I have no idea why the dome light would come on, but if you are taking a corner too fast, and one of the warning lights comes on it is probably either your ASC or DCS depending om which you have. Just means this has kicked on.

 

I see the ASC light come on regularly, but since it's in the center speedo it's easy to overlook. Sometimes I can detect a slight bit of wheelspin (or a lot ), but I also see the light come on and wouldn't know about the ASC activating if it wasn't for the light.

 

When your dome light comes on, does your boot-latch light come on as well? This has happened to quite a few cabrios. Accelerating, uphill... If this is the case, you're not the first. Apparently there's a fix.

 

When opening passenger side door the bonnet light comes on whats up?

 

Cool, I'm not the only one, and I'm not imagining things! We were going up a hill when I hit the gas and the light came on, but I did not notice the boot latch light. I will have to set up the scene again, and see if it happens.

Here is the TSB for the Boot Warning Light Switch. The new part is basically the same switch with an extended plunger. Without the extended plunger, the switch is just barely closed. The longer plunger causes the switch to go fully closed and eliminates this problem.

The only light I see that come on when I pass a slow SUV are the blue lights of the patrolman behind me

Can't speak to any of the interior lights though...
