I need to get some rotors real soon but I dont want to spend the money right now for Willwood, Stoptech or Ireland. I did find these last night and the seller has a 100% rating. Has anyone purchased these for the Mini?

Not exactly, but I have purchased parts directly from Atlantic British. I picked up an in-stock OEM coolant resevoir cap from them for cheap when all of the dealers were out and would have had to have ordered it. They also have a direct website: http://www.roverparts.com/MiniCarPartsnet.cfm

For cheaper EBC brakes on ebay, I have used this seller: http://stores.ebay.com/Auto-Parts-Wa...le-Search.html. They also have a direct website: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/ but I found they had better prices on ebay and then called them. The good thing about them is that they pricematch and have a pretty good selection. I picked up almost the same package as you were looking at (ordered all pieces separately though), but with just slotted (not drilled) rotors with shipping for only $380.

I'd keep looking. I would worry about shipping costs, noise from the rotors or pads, & durability of the rotors with any performance driving.

Normally for daily use, stock rotors or OEM size brembo rotors are economic and durable enough. Your choice on the brake pads from various vendors and tirerack.com.

Match your rotors and pads for your intended use- street/autocross/track/car shows.

Hey I have those EBC pads and rotors on the front only and they work really well no noise, no noticable brake fade, minimal dusting, very happy with them.

PS received the dampner Monday thanks!

For daily driving, you don't need slotted and cross-drilled rotors. That's overkill. But if you autocross and/or track your car, then they would be beneficial. They do make more noise, and many people will tell you to avoid cross-drilled rotors, as they can and will develop cracks between the holes over time.

If you need gas venting on the rotor surface, it seems that slotted rotors are the better choice. But again, if you're car is just going to be a daily driver, just replace your rotors with the OEM ones, or the ones that Brembo makes at the OEM size, (not talking about the high-end cross-drilled Brembo rotors; just "normal" rotors).

The EBC pads are a good idea though, and if you do need more braking power, but you still want to use stock calipers and rotors, you may also want to consider going to stainless brake lines, a higher-end brake fluid, and caliper stiffening kit. Like the ones sold at Helix: http://www.helix13.com/mini/products/brakes (scroll down to the Tyrol sport brake caliper stiffening kit).

Other than the appearance changes in this case a rotor's a rotor's a rotor.

You won't make the car stop faster, shorter, or endure longer. All the replacement stock rotors must conform to the required sizing of the car to fit, thus the effectiveness is unchanged.

So far I know of nobody who has produced a directional one or two piece rotor for the MINI so there's no cooling gains to be argued or loss of weight.

Slots, holes, dimples, combos...they all enhance pad wiping but we're talking low on the wow scale. The best investment is going to be a good pad choice on any new rotor (if you really need them) and some SS hoses.

So how can one tell if you need new rotors then?

I'm not a fan of drilled rotors.

Strictly for looks I like the drilled rotors. I bought EBC rotors for my wife's Mini because the holes/slots are not drilled through. Just dimpled so you don't risk the cracking like in others. They are a gold finish though and she doesn't know if she likes them. I'll put them on the car and see what she thinks of the color. I'm using Hawk Ceramic pads from Detroit Tuned.

When the ones you have now are under min. spec or otherwise worn due to cracks, heavy grooving etc.

Aside from costmetics there's really no such thing as an "upgraded" rotor. They don't work any better as a torque plate or heat sink.

Go it, the spec should be listed on the edge of the rotor itself. Look close at the rotor walls and see if it's there. If not check the inside of the hat portion of the rotor. Somewhere it will list the minimum.
