JCW '03 to '05 upgrade

I apologize if this has been answered a million times. I searched the forum and didn't find a definitive review. Blame it on my newbie-ism.

I am about to pick up a lightly used '03 MCS with JCW. My understanding is that prior to '05 these had 200hp. In '05 an upgrade was introduced to change the injectors, airbox, and ecu update to raise the hp to 207.

Cost, as most know, is $525 plus 1.5hrs labor. What is the general view on whether this is a noticeable improvement and worth it?

Thanks,

Don't know if this wil help, but here's a comprable cost breakdown.

DDM/Alta CAI = ~$235= $250 with shipping + install yourself = $250
Injectors = $295 + shipping = $~310 + 1 hour labor@$90/hr = $400
I wouldn't think the ECU update would cost seeing that you already have the JCW package. I paid $125 for mine though (1 hour labor).
This package comes to between $650 and $775

Your proposed package = $525+~$187.50= $712.50+tax?

Got a quarter to flip?

Thanks. The dealer just called and quoted 3.5hrs to install so all in at $950. Seems awful steep for 7hp but I haven't driven it back to back.

3.5 hrs is total overkill. If I were you, I'd get whatever intake you like (DDM, JCW, whatever), the injectors, and install those yourself (both pretty easy - theres a ton of DIY info on the boards), then have the dealer throw on the jcw software. Save some cash.

$950 for 7 hp is insane. those #'s arnt even to the wheels. you could go other routes and make more power for less.

My advice is drive your JCW Mini around for a while, enjoy it, and get used to how nice it drives. 200 hp in a small car like the MINI is plenty enough for most people. However if you still aren't satisfied, there are many other safe and affordable routes to get you more power.

19% pulley, Alta intake, OBX header...are just a few ideas that pop in my mind.

Thanks. I spoke with a guy at the parts desk and he actually recommended just this which I thought was nice. Drive it, then DIY everything and have the dealer do the ECU if I really wanted it. I think I'll drive it for a while and then maybe add an ALTA intake.
