Lake County Car Washes

Are there any decent touchless car washes in Lake County? Just looking to get some of the grime( and salt ) off and a quick spray underneath.

There is a good "lazer" one right in downtown Hammond. I think it's on Hwy 20. The big north/south road that connects 90 to 94.

Sorry, I was referring to Lake County IL. After I posted I wondered if anyone would think IN.

Depends on what part of Lake County (Illinois) you are located.

I live in Gurnee and I use the car wash behind the Amoco station at Grand and Milwaukee (132/21) It costs $9 for the top end wash which includes two soap sprays and an undercarriage wash. It's less if you want less washing. They have a credit card reader at the entrance so you can charge the wash if that is all you want. If you buy the wash and gas at the same time, the gas is $0.10/gallon less.

I have also used the Amoco station wash on 41 at Wadsworth. You have to go behind the building to get to it.

Both are touch less washes. I have not seen any type of issue with either other than watch your wheels as you go in to avoid rubbing on the guide pipes in the floor.

Yep - really, really watch out for the guidepipes if you use that kind of a wash. I normally hand-wash my cars, but we were in my wife's MINI on our way to a club event, so I figured I'd run through the touchless wash real quick just to blow off the light grime. Sure enough, I "curbed" one of the Webspokes on the guidepipe and scratched the clearcoat. She told me "That's fine, honey, but this means I get the Webspokes off of YOUR car when it's delivered".

So that's why I only have 2000 miles on my MINI, but 8000 miles on my wheels and tires!

I work in Lincolnshire and live in Round Lake Beach.

I am not too worried about the rims since I have cheap ASA with my winter tires.

Round Lake Beach, thats where I spend weekends, on the west side of the lake, cool, I have used the car wash at the SW corner of 83/60 and 176.

I also like Fast Jacks on 45 just north of 120 for a nice hand wash at a great price.

Doing a new thing this year, hand wash ONLY, I'm parked out side the garage tonight hoping the rain will knock off some of the salt.

Last year I'd use the Mobil in Lake Zurich (Ela and 12) TOuchfree mobils felt fairly safe, you can also look into and number of self wash stations to be one step closer to the hand wash.
