Classic style wheels

Hi,

I am looking to get another set of wheels for my S. I am looking for a set of 16 inch wheels in a silver color. I have found several sets of wheels that I think would look great. The Rota GT3, WheelMax 002, and BBS RS are at the top of my list so far.

The only problem I am running into is the offsets. I would like a nice lip and a little bit of poke. The offset for the GT3 seems to be spot on for the Mini and would probably look great with some spacers.

WheelMax 002s have a small lip in the correct offset, but they have some 8 inch wide rims with a nice lip that have a 0 offset. That seems like would push the wheels out waaay to far. I wasn't sure if some machining could bring the wheels to more reasonable offset.

BBS RS' would look very good, I think. The problem would be finding a nice set. Felgen-garage.de has them available in any size, but they would have to come from Germany and all that nonsense. Any ideas of where to get them.

The car will also have KWs put at some point. Comment, suggestions, different ideas?

Konig Rewinds would be another classic style for the MINI. 15x7 ET40 and about $95 each.

Don't forget Panasports! Same look as the old Mini-lites, but much less expensive! They come in all silver, or silver with a polished lip. I went with the polished lip on my Spitfire and now kind of wish I had done the same on the MINI. Oh well...

And there's another company called Superlite that makes a Mini-lite knock off. I believe they are even less expensive than Panasports.

Those panasports are exactly like what I was looking for. They even come in a 16" fitment.

I do really like the C8 modular wheels.

Hopefully I could get them in a 8 x 16 fitment with the proper offset to push them as far out as possible. Seems like a good choice to me. The end goal is to have something that is the way I want it to look and be set up for STX with the KW competion coil-overs and the JCW kit.

Those Panasports look badass, the problem is that you cant get that wide lip on our cars, they just dont fit. :(

Those are also Panasport's racing wheels. Probably not something you want to run around on the streets with because I'm betting they won't hold up to potholes very well. Their street wheels are a bit, shall we say, tamer... My car (shown a few posts up) has the FS-16's.

with 16x9s you could easily run a shorter tire too to make rubbing very rare.

Why would you ever need a wheel bigger than 15? 15 Is as high as I would ever go unless I were to build some soret of pimped out show mobile, My mom went from stock 14's to 17's on he honda and when I drove to get groceries one day the steering was very 'stiff', but I am no car freak

But can you drop it enough so it looks good? Sign me up buddy, I'll take 'em in gold center, black rivets with a 5" step lip.

I got Minilites from myminiparts.com. I don't think they cost more than Panasports. 16X7, 43 offset, a bit heavy at 19 lbs., but hubcentric. Look outstanding on the car.

yup... the pic below is running 17x9 et 30 in the back and its slammed. If you got them in 16x9 with a shorter tire you could lower it even more. You would have to stretch the tire a bit...but that looks better anyways

It's not gonna be a 5inch lip as suggested...but its pretty decent

You're gonna have to pay to play though 16x9 isnt cheap

That looks fantastic. Looks like some 8 x 16s are in my future. STX has the maximum rim width as 8 so that is as wide as I can go. Thanks for the pic and the advice.
