auxiliary input and lesson learned?

Bought my 05 MCS from a used car dealer. They knew nothing about the car other than it ran on fossil fuel. Since ipods rule the music world, I purchased an auxiliary input and an ipod adapter. I decided on the input (I have an pod adapter for sale now) because I can install sirius down the road. I read the threads and began the install. I reached behind the head unit to plug the cable in where I found blockage in the supposedly available port. I then proceded to remove the head unit to find out what the problem was. My surprise, there was something plugged in there. Hmm. I read the tag on the cable and realized that the input had already been installed, but where. I opened the glove box while sitting on the passenger side (do you ever sit there?) There it was. Doh!!
Moral of the story: if you buy used, inspect before you install. You never know what you may find.
Sorry for the novel, just wanted to bring you there.
