Best place to buy stock brake pads/rotors

Hi, what's the cheapest site to get stock rotors/pads for a coopers s?

How are brembos from mossmini compare to stock rotors?

Also, do 2004 cooper s have brake wear sensor?

I got just got some Zimmerman rotors front and rear for my 03 MCS from autohausaz.com. They are not stock but are a very good German manufacturer. I have used them on all my BMWs and Porsches though out the years with no failures. They don't make a floating rotor though. They were like $150.00 for all four shipping was free. The stock pads I believe are Jurid which I don't like so much. If you want a stock pad try Mintex OEM replacement pad. They have a little bit more metal content then the Jurid. M7 has them on sale for $98.00 for all four. If you want better look into the Hawk Street or other after market street pads but you will be paying 125.00 or more for the front only.

Brembo is excellent but for a stock rotor you will not see any difference unless they are drilled or slotted but that's not stock. They are also very expensive. Yes to the brake sensor. If yours has not been activated you don't have to change it.

Make sure you bed them in proper and heat them up slowly let them cool them heat them up some more at a higher temp with use. In other words dont do an emergency stop from 70 mph on a brand new set of pads and rotors.

you can try ebay

Here is a new listing for stock BMW MINI parts.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330057290060

BTW, there's a reason why auto parts sellers sell "discount auto parts" they will likely void your warranty.

Mintex red box pads are a stock replacement - but much less dust.

I went with Brembo rotors, also stock replacement.

talk to Ken at MINI Brakes - a new vendor here. He can get you hawk and dba parts....better than OEM.

as for the comment above about warranty, what would a vendor care about your warranty? ANYTHING non-OEM can void your warranty if it's proven to be the cause of the failure. Implying that's the reason why they sell their product is inaccurate.....one can be assured it's because they make money, not by affecting your warranty.

Do Mintex pads have a slot for the pad wear sensor?

What are you going to use your MCS for? Street use only? Any track use?
Does the amount of brake dust make much difference to you?

Stock rotors are going to be your best bet for street use.
I would not recommend stock pads- try the mintex redbox ($40 fronts, $37 rears) if you want decent performance for street use with less dust and affordable price.

EBC green pads offer less dust but more cost. $83 fronts, $69 rears.

Unless you want the different look any cross drilled or slotted rotor won't offer much for street use only. I had Zimmerman Crossdrilled rotors on the front and back for my MCS and within a year I had micro cracks in both front rotors (track/autocross/street use)- not severe but I did replace them.

Brembo front stock rotors $54.99 each at Helix13.com

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resul...dClar=Standard
Brembo front stock rotors $50 each
Cryogenically treated stock rotors $89 front each, $74 rear each.
Cyro treatment harders the rotors and makes them more durable for hard use, not really needed for normal street driving.

Outmotoring.com has stock rotors $149 for fronts and $99 for rears (pairs)

How difficult is it to replace the rear rotors on a 2004 Mini S. Also it appears replacing them, for street use mainly, one should use stock rotors. True?

Wow....talk about bringing a thread back to life!!
Welcome to nam.....
There are several good diy's about the pads/rotors on a gen1 mini. The rears are a bit of a pain...the puck on the caliper needs to be rotated, and pushed in at the same time...harbour freight sells the tool for 15$..the diy's all have the part name/etc. Also the rotors on mini's are held on by a torix bolt...not really needed...but it tends to seize...so be ready to drill it out, or use a torch to free it...several differnt methods work fine. A bit of anti-seize when you re-assemble..(buy new bolts IMO, about 2$ each), or just leave them off.
I used Zimmerman rotors....but now in this age where mini's are more common, you can get good ones in mant places...ATE, centeric prem., etc...and you will save $$ on shipping...they are heavy. Pads...depends n driving style...stock equivilents, like ebc ultimates, or mintex, are as good or better than stock, half the price, and make less dust. Ebc green stuff is very popular for a pad with a bit more bite.
A quick search will give you the diy's with step by step photo's...and thousands of threads on pads...just get what matches your style.
