How many miles before you would notice wear on the tires?
Silly question really... but I think I need to get my car aligned and I ment to do it a few weeks ago but have not had time.
My front tires seem to show a little more wear than my rear tires and I have only put about 2000 miles on the tires. They are Continental extreme contact all season tires. On the front tures the edges of the tread are not as sharp as the tires on the rear. The tire gauge shows a VERY SLIGHT difference in tread depth. Do you think a difference would be noticable after only 2000 miles? I have finals over the next two weeks and am going to have to wait until those are over before I have time to get it aligned.
Oh, as far as how I have been driving. I would guess 500 of those miles are highway miles and the rest city. I don't auto cross the car but do enjoy the occasionaly clover on ramps on a highway and such....

50 miles...............! LOL
I would be concerned about an alignment only if you notice uneven wear across the tire or one tire wearing more than the other. Otherwise you will see a difference from front to back in wear.

As said above if the alignment is way off, tire pressure isn't correct or driving behavior is harsh (who's isn't?) then there will a change in the tires.
Tire pressure and driving style will have a lot to do with tire wear. One track day equals about 6 months of daily driving for most folks.

Same here...same tires same occasional fun.....and such. I'm thinkin' you're just wearin' them suckers down!! My fronts only lasted a year!!!
I go much easier now.
Just a note, I had a new suspension setup installed shortly after I purchased my car new, it obviously had to be aligned, but the shop noted that some of the original packing materials from shipment had been neglected and left installed, and the alignment was WAY off. I'm talking like a 1 hour aligment job with 4 people working on the car trying to get it aligned properly. Probably a good idea for what it costs to have the cars alignment checked after you buy it.
