Team Dynamics question or possibly any after market wheel consuring factory lugs

For starters, I have a set of TD PR 1's. Where I had them installed, they insisted on using studs. This past week, I put on a new set of springs and while in the process in putting the tires back on I broke one of the studs. Apparenly I must have over torged a bit and these studs aren't the best quality either.

I called up my neighbor(manager of the place that installed the tires) and asked him why did they use studs instead of the factory lugs. He said that TD recommends using studs instead of the factory lugs because they are somewhat rounded on the ends and they won't sit right causing a vibration at high speeds.

Could someone shed some light on this?

Or Aaron at OutMotoring - TDR dealer. I've been running a set of 1.2s with stock lugs for about 500 miles now and no vibration issues, even at 100+.

PR 1.2's with stock lugs 1,300 miles some experience at 100+ and no vibration.

My MCS is also a late 06 with the new lug.

They seem to think that the MINI lug bolts have a ball seat instead of a tapered seat or aka cone seat. If that was the case then you wouldn't want to run the stock bolts. The truth is the MINI lug bolts have a tapered aka cone seat & would work fine.

Are you kidding?
Well over 120 mph many times and no vibrations, someone's pulling your leg.
More unsprung weight with studs and nuts, though only slightly, but every bit helps.
Call M7 and talk with Peter, he races his mini frequently and he'll set you straight.
