We Finally Made It - CR Most Reliable List
According to Consumer Reports (FWIW) the 2006 MINI made the list for most reliable Sporty/Sports Car. Break out the champagne.....
Most Reliable Sport/Sporty car
Most reliable (Best score first)
Lexus SC
Toyota Camry Solara (4-cyl.)
Subaru Impreza WRX
Honda S2000
Mitsubishi Eclipse*
2006 Mini Cooper hatchback
Least reliable (Worst score first)
Pontiac Solstice*
Mercedes-Benz SL
Mercedes-Benz CLK
Mercedes-Benz SLK (V6)
Chevrolet Corvette
Porshce 911 Carrera
Ford Mustang (V6)
Only one European car, the Mini Cooper, made the "Most Reliable" list overall. Of the "Least Reliable" cars, 19 of the 45 are European models.

I'm also wondering how the Pontiac Solstice takes the title of the LEAST reliable car, yet the mechanically identical Saturn Sky is not even on the list?
Consumer Reports is pointless...however, it IS good that we finally made it.

That's ok, we still like to see our cousins win......

That comment you referenced encapsulates perfectly what we've both been saying - everyone around here talks about how irrelevant CR is and how cars that make their lists are boring and have large cupholders - until your car makes the list - then it's a badge of honor........
So I must therefore conclude either:
(1) Mini Coopers, since they made the list, are boring ala the Camry.
(2) CR is now a viable rating source.

But Ya ... you got it. Hmm, where's C4. About now he should have something to say. Oh wait ... Toyotas were #1 and #2 in that categoy. Shucks ... I guess he wont have anything to say

What I think is funny is the the corvette was listed as one of the least reliable cars. My coworker will fight tooth and nail that her corvette is the best. I fight back as a covette is still a GM car and all the GM's I've owned have been crap...any my stepfather works for GM and I still wouldn't buy any more GM's even with the discount.
Ok...stepping off my soapbox now.

Unfortunately, it still has a chevy interior
Still, nothing special for a car like that.

What GM cars have you owned that you are basing it on though? The older ones were junk but GM has made an AMAZING turnaround in the last 5 or so years.
My S10 hasn't had even a hint of anything going wrong mechanically in the 62,000 miles I've had it. Of course the paint is scratched to hell and bits of the interior have been replaced, but that's not really a big deal to me.
Our '91 Corvette has been a great car. We are the original owners and the only things we've had to get repaired were the Bose speakers (not very good) and the a/c went out because hubby didn't use it enough. It's been a really fun and reliable car, but not as fun as the MINI.
